Blue Jay
I was out on my deck tonight playing with the chickadees (again) when this beautiful blue jay landed on my deck railing no more than 4-5 feet away from me. They are normally quite timid but this one seems to be getting accustomed to my presence. This is the first time I was lucky enough to get a half decent shot and this was the ONLY chance I had on this night! Photo taken in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada
Canon Rebel XTi | Manual Mode, f/4.0 @ 97mm
Lens: Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS
Photoshop Edits: removed a few background distractions (thankfully there weren’t many). I also changed the deck rail color tone to blue and faded it out at opposite ends to soften it.

Can’t believe you pull these shots off . Mine just have a smudge where the bird once sat ;
/ I have a bunch of very clear photos of branches and fences though ;)Renee Dawson replied
Cinderella was my favorite fairy tale as a child…and still is. I loved her relationship with the animals. I spend hours with the birds (literally) – doing my best to gain their trust. The blue jays are timid but it was quite a milestone for me to have it land this close to me to begin with…smiles
