Susan's Fall

Susan's Fall

So much beauty can still be found in a flower that is starting to fade. This black eyed susan immediately caught my eye with all the wonderful autumn colors in its wilting petals. Photo taken in my garden – Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada.

Note: Background was not digitally changed to black – that is the way the photo was taken :)

OMG….is this for real?? You have just knocked my socks off!!!

  • Renee Dawson replied

Yes, this flower is real. Can you believe my luck…lol I hightened the blue tones on the very top so it would show up better against the dark background but the petals really were that color. Way cool!

This is really lovely. I would have just lopped the dead head off and hoped for more flowers to come. It’s stunningly beautiful in it’s death throes. Great capture.

Yes Renee – it has a fantastic artsy feel to it, yet still looks very much like a photograph. You and I have similar tastes I think…is it a Canadian thing? LOL. Hugs, S.

  • Renee Dawson replied

Maybe it is a Canadian thing Sandra. ‘Tis a good thing! :o)

  • Corina Daniela Obertas

    Corina Daniela...

Wow!!! This is magnificent Renee! How did you make it?

  • Renee Dawson replied

Thanks so much Corina. I did very little to the original photo other than darkening the shadows & bringing out more blue tones on the very top of the flower so it would stand out against the dark background better. All of the petals were already those various colors :o)
