Columbine

Boundless fury echoes
Bouncing through the empty halls
Screams recalled torment me
As I view these blood-stained walls

My fears rise
Nearly choking me
I remember that fearful day
And all I was forced to see

Two of my classmates
Not greatly known
Contained so much anger
As they have now shown

They got their own weapons
And made up their minds
To go through with their plans
To kill anyone they’d find

They entered this school
A day like any other
Pulled out their guns
Shot at all but each other

Then when they realized
There was no way out
They ended their own lives
With no time for doubt

They killed my friends
And left me for dead
Then they killed themselves
And I lived instead

As I look back and think
I have tears in my eyes
I remember the way I treated
These two hateful guys

The fear and terror
Haunt me still
But I live on
With a courageous will

If anything must be learned
From an experience so vile
Tell people that you care
Every once in a while
