Sir Leopold von Burtenbach

Ye who read this shall leave knowing
Of the unfairness death may bestow
For I, once a valiant knight lost mine
When I tripped on a bottle of Merlot

Do not think me a drunk, for I’m not
I simply did not pay attention
Because a fetching young lass caught my eye
And she was Irish too, I might mention

Now the bottle shattered completely
And in panic my actions are rash
But at the same time unintelligent
And barefoot, I stepped on some glass

They ended up taking my whole leg
For fear the infection might spread
But I lost so much blood that it didn’t help
And I still ended up dead

My destiny was to die in battle
Fighting for my country – my home
But instead Death came for me
When I tripped on that bottle of Merlot
