I am a 53 year old ageing Hippy with a love of nature . A romantic at heart but sadly single. I used to be a decorator but since my father became ill I have given up my business to care for him full time . When I have time to myself I like nothing more than to get out into the woods or the countryside and capture the sights around me. I hope you enjoy seeing what I see. Thanks for viewing. Kind regards Mark.

The Porcelain Mushroom, Oudemansiella mucida, is also sometimes referred to by the common name of Poached Egg fungus – a reference to the white of the egg rather than the yolk, of course!

This fungus is saprobic or weakly parasitic upon beech trees, and on breezy days in autumn it is not unusual to see what appear to be tiny parachutes falling from high branches after the fungi have been dislodged by the wind.

dont know if this is yours Mark

  • Not sure about this being a Porcelain mushroom Lynn , having looked them up on the net they don’t seem to have that central bump and they grow on trees , this wasn’t where this one was found . Having done a bit more searching this one popped up http://www.biopix.com/photos/jcs-marasmius-orea... it looks similar but I’m no expert . Many thanks for taking the time to look for me , I enjoy the hunt but the identification can be really hard sometimes as there are so many which are alike .
