Bird Seed Surprise by relayer51

Our bird feeder stands in a large planting tub. A sunflower seed missed by the birds must have taken root and over the last few months I’ve watched as this sunflower has grown and flowered ,a first for our garden but not the last . I intend to get the seeds from this and plant as many as I can around the borders of the large field in front of our house. Should be quite a sight when they all flower. The neighborhood could do with brightening up .

sunflower, nature

I am a 57 year old ageing Hippy with a love of nature . A romantic at heart but sadly single. I used to be a decorator but since my father became ill I have given up my business to care for him full time . When I have time to myself I like nothing more than to get out into the woods or the countryside and capture the sights around me. I hope you enjoy seeing what I see. Thanks for viewing. Kind regards Mark.

Mark, for a few years I planted sunflower seeds—-not one plant grew! But the scrub jays had a feast..LOL! Glad this beauty has inspired you, just don’t let the birds watch you planting any seeds! I’m curious about the rectangular cut in the upper right leaf? Wonderful image, Mark. Sandy

  • You and me both Sandy ,I can’t work it out . It doesn’t show up on the unedited picture and as far as I know I didn’t do anything to that side of the shot . Its a mystery ! I will have to remove it . Every time I look at it the shot I see that . As for growing them my dear ole’ Dad the one with greenfingers tells me its best to start them off in small pots first then plant them out . I can see you standing in the garden saying whats happened to all my sunflowers !! big fat birds laughing! Have a great weekend , kindest regards, Mark.
