I like the little spines on this one. It was a chance find .I had lost my balance and grabbed a branch to steady myself, this was on the branch.

I am a 53 year old ageing Hippy with a love of nature . A romantic at heart but sadly single. I used to be a decorator but since my father became ill I have given up my business to care for him full time . When I have time to myself I like nothing more than to get out into the woods or the countryside and capture the sights around me. I hope you enjoy seeing what I see. Thanks for viewing. Kind regards Mark.

An interesting way to find this fungus Mark. Good shot!

  • I was lucky not to sqwish it. It can be a bit dangerous of the beaten track with rabbit holes and fox dens to fall in. Cheers ! mark.

  • I am enjoying looking for fungi in places I don’t normally look, under fallen branches etc. Its been an eye opener. Thank you Jules.

That looks different and spreading. Great find does it hurt the tree?? Wow what a way to find it too…<:)

  • I think I will get myself a hiking stick as Carla suggest’s . I can’t afford to break something out in the wild. I think it does eat away at the tree. Thanks Billijo, have a great weekend! mark.

LOVE toothy fellows! A nice find of them looking young and fresh as well. Mark. Don’t you know to carry a big hiking stick with you to poke the ground so you don’t break an ankle in a critter hole??? lol

  • I must get myself a stick , what with my tripod and rucksack I don’t usually like to carry to much around. A stick would be useful. Thanks Carla.

Amazing find, Mark! Might be better not to keep finding things this way, you could bust an ankle and I know you usually are traveling alone and that could turn out very badly. ;) excellent shot, I love the detail and DOF works very well.

  • Yes I have often thought about that. Searching off the beaten track could be awkward if I needed to be rescued. I all ways carry my mobile and and a whistle in case.
