Not a hundred percent sure of this I.D. but it was the only one that fitted its description. Found this Morning while out in the woods. It was growing on a dead oak limb.St. Lucia woods, Lindford, Hampshire, UK.Nikon D60 18-55mm Vr lens.

Such a beauty, Mark – well spotted and a great capture !!
Thank you Mattie, I was pleased to spot this at this time of the year.
Fantastic Mark, you do seem to find some nice ones
It takes a lot of searching of the beaten track. I love getting out into the wilder areas where people seldom go. Thanks Lynn.
I don’t care much about the proper name…this is so cool…so different from anything I’ve seen before :-)
I wish they would give them more interesting names. All this Latin just confuses me. Thanks Rusty.
This is so pretty! It looks like it has petals like a flower.
Many thanks Mischa it does have that flower look to it.
Not sure on the ID yet…I feel like I should know this one but it just isn’t coming to me. I think the Sarcodon scabrosus has a really tough almost woody cap that’s cracled and scaled looking? I might be thinking of the wrong species…..ughWish I could help more here Mark (too much coffee today I think)
I think I have found it, http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/?q=winter-pol... see what you think. It took a while but this one looks very similar. Thanks Carla.
I just checked this out[ winter-polypore ] on another site and it doesn’t look any thing like it so some one has got it wrong. I give up! Its so frustrating when this happens.
How beautiful and the whole family is hanging out together. Great shot Mark. Cool color too. You find such nice pictures out there in your woods….<:)
Many thanks Bobbijo, I love getting out in to the woods, no cars and no people. Just you and nature.
Good to see you back on the trail of fungal mysteries:-)Nice shot!
A lovely image, whatever it might be
Thanks Kat, this one is turning into a pain to I.D.
Great Shot Mark!
