Artist's Description

The Bronze Spear head was found near Kingsley pond, Hampshire , UK. The experts at the Museum told me that it was either thrown into the pond as an offering to the gods or was lost while out hunting waterfowl . It dates from around c 2300 BC , about the same age as Stonehenge and wood have been a massive loss to its owner , he/she really wanted to please the gods. The shaft of wood came out while I was cleaning the find and started to fall apart almost straight a way . I dipped it in varnish to preserve it , the wrong thing to do but I didn’t know that . The Axe head is c1450-1250BC and was found on the recreation field near my house , this due to its condition was almost certainly an offering to the gods as the field in Bronze age times was a bog . Another Axe head was also found on the field a week later by another detectorist . I found over 200 hundred coins on the recreation field , over the years it has been used for many sporting events and fetes and fairs . They were re -turfing the field at the time so I was allowed to search . Hope you like them Manon.
