Hmmmm…. wait a second, Freud is whispering to me. What? What did you say Siggy? Um, yes this does involve strong verticals and diagonals. And… say what? Well, right the Chrysler building seems like a needle piercing into a skin that… Huh? Yes… yes… there is a manly thrusting power to the muscular lines and shadows and …
Yeah Siggy, you’re right… sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Never mind.
Terrific abstract Mary Ann. It turns New York into something almost… sexy?
Wait… forget the ‘almost’ – okay? :-)
Mary Ann Reilly replied
even for Freud, a cigar must have sometimes been just a cigar
Thanks, Ted your posting here made me laugh. Although…that ramp way on to the FDR does look a bit like a thigh opening:)

Awwww I like this, Mary Ann!!
Very dramatic! Love the composition!!
Wheres Batman peering over the edge?!!
Has a Gotham feel to it!
Mary Ann Reilly replied
I might redo it and find a batman to place in it:)

A great image Mary Ann, but all that Freudian stuff passes me by. ‘Kind of Blue’ hits many notes with me and they were all recorded by Miles Davis and his sextet in 1959 on that eponymous album.
Mary Ann Reilly replied
I was listening to the album (or should I say Itunes) as I worked.

blue.. that’s weird cos it’s really gold.. isn’t it?
a change from the usual grandiose skyscraper view.. a more sombre, humbler, reflective mood. like it!
