Mending Wall

Mending Wall

If someone told me when I was growing up—with all the talk of the evils of the Berlin Wall—that we (the USA) would be building a wall to keep people out of our country, I would not have believed it. I would have thought it impossible. Frost said it best:

...Before I built a wall I’d ask to know
What I was walling in or walling out,
And to whom I was like to give offence…

Great work and the thought in this works..I lived in San Diego for awhile.. the whole thing is so rediculous!!

  • Mary Ann Reilly replied

I think I find it all so insulting, perhaps because I am an immigrant and my son is as well.

I’m not sure which wall you mean Mary Ann, but I understand the implications and it is reason enough to quote one of my favourite poems by Frost. What he said is true, ‘Something there is that doesn’t love a wall’.

the one between Mexico and the USA. Yes, let’s hope there’s a lot of that sentiment.
