Beautiful Mary Ann. I was thinking the same thing as Bradley – a group called jpgmag alums” or something – which I would encourage all former jpgmag members to join BUT encourage newcomers as well. It would afford us that intimacy or coziness we felt at jpg, but at the same time allow us to enjoy the features of bubble, which are many and varied. Bubble, in my 2 day experience, may be a bit intimidating at first, but “m confidant we will grow comfortable with it as time goes by.
I’m going to write Bradley and see where he is on this, and offer any assistance. I’m also going to post Redbubble info as my Intro at JPG.
Oh, again, MAGNIFICENT shot.
Mary Ann Reilly replied
Good idea Kevin. I hear JPG has been revived.

Mary Ann, your work is always excellent but I am really blown away by your recent posts. Provocative for the mind as well as delights for the eye…......I like the way the whole image is so incredibly rich and dark without being sombre….....the subtlety of the photographer is a delicious finish.
Mary Ann Reilly replied
thanks Leanna. I have always done collage, just not posted much work. Am thinking in layers these days.
sbc7
nice, very painterly as to shameless snapping it comes with the craft and always wear sneekers.
Mary Ann Reilly replied
it must be the sneakers I’ve forgotten:)
Nelson Campbell
Well, I spent about 5 minutes just looking before I could even write anything….completely compelling…
Mary Ann Reilly replied
Thanks Nelson. Your comments always make me smile.

Wonderful and creepy – your point comes across powerfully. An innocent and a ‘dirtbag’. The post work is totally amazing. I see JPGer are moving over….. which is great.

Awareness compels us all to be voyeurs, a way of being we either encourage or try to shut out. Here, we see both. The girl may have seen the photographer close at hand, but for her his was not an important presence. Her mind is elsewhere. For the photographer, she is all he sees. One is left to wonder what he sees. A lonely figure. A figure alone. A person at ease in a space emptied of others. A somewhat desolate looking place. Forgotten. Neglected. Perhaps he sees her within this context.
Mary Ann Reilly replied
Here’s a truth: the girl was standing on the edge of a lake in late afternoon, mid October. She was standing still but moving her body (torso and higher) as if in a trance. The bible was open and she was chanting without sound. I was unable to look away. My camera focused and shooting. The photographer was shooting a wedding, right behind the girl on a lawn. He looked pissed at all the other Wedding people snapping shots as he lined up the group. The street scene is Paterson. I shot the corner cause it was so yellow, so standout among the general squalor of a city the Bush years have forgotten. All three images stayed with me and I knew then I would link them. I am the photographer. I am the girl. I am the city. I am none of these too.

What we create comes from what we see with our eyes and transfers to our brains…we are all voyeurs…some of us create from what we see and others don’t. Outstanding composition, and the color just blows me away.
Mary Ann Reilly replied
Thanks Karen. I agree we are all voyeurs, especially artists.

To Mary Ann Reilly -
BRAVO … !
You have here the hight of a original style and what vision in your compositions.
your choice of subject matter … both personal and at the same time collectively cultural … a psychologically visceral fusion … !
I truly admire your work ( I would like to say that you are now one of my favourite artists ).
... As for artists as voyeurs … interesting idea – but let it be said that secondly the artist as CREATOR is also firstly and most importantly an OVERSEER … this can transcend into a myriad of psychological ( human ) characteristics.
Kirrill D’Kainn.
Mary Ann Reilly
I’m not so sure we are overseers—-that feels too neutral to me, too clean. Our hands are a bit more involved I suspect. Thanks for your comments I appreciate them:)
