Armpits and Apples
I am reading a booked called The Brain That Can Change Itself my Norman Doidge.
In the chapter titled ‘Acquiring Tastes and Love’ on page 101 (no pun intended), the follow is revealed….
In Elizabethan times lovers were so enamored of each other’s body odours that it was common for a woman to keep a peeled apple in her armpit until it had absorbed her sweat and smell. She would give this “love apple” to her lover to sniff at in her absence
Now that is what I call commitment!
