Who are you?
Are you defined by what you wear, your job, your car, the films you see, the books you read, your hobbies, the food you eat, your family and friends…
by what you say, the words you write, the photos you take,or the things you draw and…
by what you do and don’t do?
I say you are defined by what you think. Everthing else contradicts or confirms this….
The less contradictions, the more the world sees who you are.
Well at least that is what I think!

Well written. Too many try to define who they really are with material possessions and what they present on the outside, sometimes losing who they are in the quest to impress. Where does the mask end and reality begin?

Interesting, I reveal myself to people so much (just watch my You Tube videos) that many see it as a fault and think that they can define me easily, but they still get it wrong.

A big yes to that John.
1) I have a very small Suzuki car, which is ideal for driving round our small roads, easy to park, and very economical. 80+mpg around town. Ideal for when we go away for a short break, but the people who drive 4wd and big cars look down on me.
2) You must experience this also. I shoot with a Pentax, as you well know, but I am looked down on because I do not have a CanNik. Well. I let my work talk for me.
3) The way I talk.
My regional accent is East London/Essex. Cockney if you like, but slightly different. I have an ‘ainaught (Hainault) accent, and I am looked down because of that, by people who have a more refined accent.

Yes, I study at photo school and have also experienced the camera apartheid scenario.
I have a reasonably flash car, I like cars and enjoy driving… so I think I am being consistent, to some extent. :-)

Such a good question. I think I define myself largely by my photography .. the images I produce are largely very personal and reflect my feelings and experience as opposed to what I am seeing and living (does that make sense?). Photography allows me to be me and I don’t want to be anyone else. Other than that I suppose I try to blend in but fail. I am pretty rootless … I live miles away from where I was born and bought up – I hate where I spent my childhood and have nothing to do with it. As for houses, cars, travel etc – they do not define me at all.

I was recently asked if I could to be a celebrity for a day who would it be…
I chose Paris Hilton… so I could apologise to the world for my apalling self indulgence.
