Pushing a Fuji Velvia 100
I used my Pentax K1000 and 50mm lens to try out the Fuji Velvia 100 slide film. I exposed TTL at 400 ISO, and then asked the photo developer to push the development by 2 stops to make up for the under exposure.
I am impressed with colour and the level of detail in the shadows that emerged from pushing the Fuji Velvia two stops, the photos are a little darker than I expected and slightly gra…
Armpits and Apples

Theory of Rain
1. When you sense the first signs of rain, it is most likely going to get heavier.
2. If it doesn’t, it probably wasn’t going to rain anyway.

Population Ponzi
I heard an economist talk about the need to populate or perish. I recently read the average life span of a child born today will be 90 years.
As the population ages there is a greater need for health care. With the general level of care also increasing, we need younger people to work and help provide the tax revenue to pay for the health professionals to look after us in our old age. Hmmm…
Invasion of privacy?
Tonight whilst walking in the streets near home, I stopped to take a photo of the moon, some powerlines and the sunset. Whilst preparing for the shot (with manual film camera), I was confronted by an angry and aggressive woman. From a distance she demanded (five times) “what are you doing”. Each time I responded that it was my business, and not her concern. The tone of my voice would have b…

The Slightly Sinister Characters of RB Land
Do you believe in altruism?
If you do, you will stand convinced that the bulk of activity around comments, favourites, features, and challenges do not have an ulterior motive. Sure you might be suspicious about the odd person, but generally, these activities are sincere. If you don’t believe in altruism, you most likely take the opposite view.
So indulge me a bit further with some *...
