You Smiled today and for a moment
I thought the sun had run away and you replaced it

You Laughed today
And the Earth itself felt its heart warm

You Spoke today
And when you did it was as if the most important
words that had ever been spoken ran like a river from your lips

I Smiled today
And my heart swelled with the pride only a father can understand

I just got a good idea for a gift to my Daughter too. A two-up with her portrait on the left and this poem on the right. It won’t take long to make, but it will be a great thing for her to have !

She is 17 and a bit ! She has already seen this poem and the photo that I would be using, but combined I think they would be special. Hopefully very special to her !

im sure it will be….its a beautiful poem! it would look nice framed that way she could put it on her desk when she goes away to college or moves out or whatever…that would be sweet!

Too true – she can put it in her room ! She doesn’t live with me, so it would make her think of me sometimes – and we all like that connection to our kids !

A great idea, but I don’t know the first thing about musical composition ! That bored the Hell out of me at school. I absolutely love music, but I hate treble-clefs and all that hoodoo. But thanks for the gist of what you are saying here Flip !
