You Smiled today and for a moment
I thought the sun had run away and you replaced it
You Laughed today
And the Earth itself felt its heart warm
You Spoke today
And when you did it was as if the most important
words that had ever been spoken ran like a river from your lips
I Smiled today
And my heart swelled with the pride only a father can understand
You Smiled Today
A poem about my wonderful daughter.

I know well this “unbeatable” feeling, and you put it in such beautiful words my friend.
Excellent.

Thanks iCandor. Yesterday was great and it’s another day now, but the poem tires to etch some memories into my mind forever. There will be many more days like that, for sure.

What a lucky little girl, so honestly written

Thanks Rella. I hope you got my comment before – fun only, but I saw the deep side of that poem. She’s taller than me, and that’s O.K. She’s a great kid without a doubt.

Thanks pix, that poem just flowed out in about 2 minutes because it was driven by truth.

I just got a good idea for a gift to my Daughter too. A two-up with her portrait on the left and this poem on the right. It won’t take long to make, but it will be a great thing for her to have !

that would be very sweet! how old is she? (i have two girls…..gee, cant wait till they are teens…..!) :(
reflector in reply to Shannon Rene' Justice’s comment, 7 months ago
She is 17 and a bit ! She has already seen this poem and the photo that I would be using, but combined I think they would be special. Hopefully very special to her !

im sure it will be….its a beautiful poem! it would look nice framed that way she could put it on her desk when she goes away to college or moves out or whatever…that would be sweet!
reflector in reply to Shannon Rene' Justice’s comment, 7 months ago
Too true – she can put it in her room ! She doesn’t live with me, so it would make her think of me sometimes – and we all like that connection to our kids !
Shannon Rene' ..., 7 months ago
I’m sure she thinks of you already!

I know that Jasmine does that, but a bit more again in amongst her busy young life would be nothing but cool and very great, really !

for goodness sake turn it into a song too!
Words that will hummm in her ears for eternity just beautiful music
reflector in reply to flipteez’s comment, 7 months ago
A great idea, but I don’t know the first thing about musical composition ! That bored the Hell out of me at school. I absolutely love music, but I hate treble-clefs and all that hoodoo. But thanks for the gist of what you are saying here Flip !
reflector in reply to jianina’s comment, 7 months ago
It came straight from my heart, so there was no effort, it flowed the same way. Thanks again Jianina for your thoughtful and insightful comments. :)
