Artist's Description

Australian Wildlife – Adult Tawny Frogmouth

A friend of the family suggested that I should bring my Camera out when I was going to visit their place today because a little family of Tawny Frogmouths have been sitting in a tree in the yard recently.

The Birds – Tuesday 8/01/2013

It’s only the second opportunity I’ve ever had to photograph this type of bird and the first time was over 3 years ago when all I had was a 6 MP Sony Cyber-Shot pocket camera. It was great to be able to use a Canon 450D and a 55 – 250 mm lens to zoom right in and capture the bird in more detail than I’d been able to previously. I was happy with my shots, but I still kicked myself later thinking about how I could have used an even smaller Aperture (and also use the Flash with the Flash Exposure Value below Zero) than some shots that were captured at f/8 – to obtain stronger focus and more fine detail.
