Boneless Jackson

Jackson Bogaerts performs a trick called a “Boneless One” on the small quarter pipe at Empire Park Skate Park in Newcastle, New South Wales.

A “Boneless One” or “Boneless” is named as such because the skater stretches out their legs (while doing the trick) in a way that looks unnatural and it seems like they have no bones. To do the trick, you grab the board around the middle (or a little bit in front of the middle) on the “toe side” of the board while at the same time taking off your front foot and planting it on the ground – pushing down hard and then jumping or “boosting” into the air, while holding onto your board really tightly and pulling up on your board pretty hard. While in the air, turn your head and shoulders in the direction you want to go and start to put your front foot back onto the skateboard. Look carefully at the place you want to land and bend your knees a little bit to absorb the impact of landing back on the ground. When you feel you’ve landed safely you can slowly start to adopt a fully upright (normal) stance and ride away to do your next trick.

I enjoy the whole creative process from beginning to end and seek to discover and portray the world in all of it’s rich, intense colours and interesting forms, textures and subjects. I draw inspiration from the harmonious colour schemes often present in the natural environment when creating my Graphic Designs, or composing a Photograph or other work.

Ahhhh to be that agile again! Great capture James.:)

  • I’m sure you could still “carve it up” on surfboard if you could no longer “get rad” on a skateboard, though you do have to be pretty fit and healthy to do either. This kid is only 14 so that helps a bit. Thanks for your feedback Ma’am! :)

  • Thanks very much for your comment Cheryl! :-) I’m really enjoying being able to capture action shots with an SLR more crisply than a Pocket Camera ever could.
