Destroyer

A skater performs a skateboarding trick called a Pop Shuvit on the area surrounding the skate bowl at Empire Park at Bar Beach, New South Wales. I asked him would he mind doing some tricks so I could put them on the web – this is part of a two shot sequence from “pop” to getting airborne.

Here’s a tune that I used to love in the late 1990’s (I still like it now) that I’m pretty sure this Skater from Queensland would enjoy -

Coolio – Fantastic Voyage

The shot was taken using a Canon 450D and a 55 – 250 mm lens and the border and the text were added to the original digital photograph using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.

I became interested in Digital Photography when I got my first Digital Camera in 2004. Photography has grown into a real passion over the last few years as I have learned more and my skills have progressed. Buying a digital SLR in 2009 opened up a whole new world of Photographic possibilities that has substantially increased my interest and devotion to the craft.

    Excellent timing James !!! ☺♥

  • Thank you! :)ox

I asked him would he mind doing some tricks so I could put them on the web. Surprisingly, I lost a lot of shots of this guy skating and just got a couple that I want to use.

Great capture James. Like the view too. :)x

  • Thank you Donna! :)♥ The top of that hill has amazing views of the beaches stretching to the south and it’s also a popular launch spot for hang-gliding.

Another nice action shot my friend. Well done.

  • Thanks Tom! I was having a rest from skating that day so I took photos instead – I tore the ligament on the side of my knee (mildly, not really seriously) 2 days before and I think it’s totally healed now.

I can understand your frustration.. but at least you’ve got a couple…☺♥

  • It wasn’t that bad because I don’t consider bagging every shot as crucial as I used to view it. There will always be other days and we aren’t wasting any film so it’s not that important, really. :)x

I love this shot James. Such concentration and what a moment to capture.

  • I’m glad you do, thanks Donna! He’s from Brisbane (about 10 hours North of here by car) and I’m not sure if I’ll get to give him the printout I made of this shot. He was skating solidly and getting some great height on his Ollie tricks.
