There's Nothing Like The Wind In Your Hair and That Salty Sea Air! by

A cute little dog that reminded me of a character from an old show that used to be on TV when I was very young called “The Flying Nun”. She wore a Nun’s Habit with a funny Hat that looked like it had wings on the sides. This dogs hair blew out as it looked down the beach trying to decide what other dogs it might like to meet and play with and the way it looked reminded me of her hat.

When this dog stood still for just a moment I very quickly moved in closer and crouched down at eye level to fill the frame and try to portray it’s personality.

Canon 450D, f/5.6, 1/1000 second, ISO-200, EV = 0, Focal Length = 250 mm, White Balance = Sunny, Shutter Priority Mode – to avoid motion blur because all the dogs there have so much fun and they never stay in the same spot for more than a fraction of a second.

Horseshoe Beach, Australia.

Oh so cute!! Sure looks like it’s having a great time! I used to watch the flying nun with Sally Field~ was one of my favorite shows at the time!

  • It was a great little dog and they all have a Blast at that beach – and rarely ever get into any fights. I was so young when that show first came out that it didn’t mean much to me. Then when I was a teenager it came on again and I wasn’t as interested in it, though I could see how nice Sally Field was back then.

You caught him well, nice full face view. Should imagine most dogs would go straight to you if you were kneeling down, so it’s good how he doesn’t seem conscious of the camera.
Sally Field was actually pretty cute too, down know what she was doing being a nun! I remember the show but was a bit young for it – fully immersed in Top Cat, however.

  • It was just as it looks – a very placid and gentle-spirited animal. I didn’t make any attempts to pat it immediately – then it would rush in and the shot wouldn’t happen.

Yes, she was very pretty and even today she looks very attractive – those Docs do a top job, shaving off the years! :-))

Such joy in his face! Great capture!

  • Thank you, it does look happy! It’s a great spot where the dogs are allowed to run free without a leash and there’s always such a mixed bunch of dogs to photograph.
