I spotted this little brown Duck at Blackbutt Reserve (Newcastle, Australia) sitting down and trying to go to sleep. They crane their neck back a little so they can rest their head on their chest and go to sleep standing up. I slowly moved in closer to it, stopping at about a three feet away and then crouching to get the angle/perspective I wanted.
Canon 450D with a 55-250mm lens set at 250mm and f/11.
I became interested in Digital Photography when I got my first Digital Camera in 2004. Photography has grown into a real passion over the last few years as I have learned more and my skills have progressed. Buying a digital SLR in 2009 opened up a whole new world of Photographic possibilities that has substantially increased my interest and devotion to the craft.

Thank you Kim! It was great to go back there with a better camera and re-try some bird portraits. It’s still a deceptively hard place to shoot at though – the light can change by the second due to the forest/hills all around it.
