A long exposure of an excellent Winter Sunset captured from the edge of Swansea Channel in Australia. My first long exposure dusk shot at a spot without man-made lighting.

An untouched image taken with a Canon 450D and a 250 mm lens:
F-stop: f/5
Exposure time: 2 seconds
ISO speed: ISO-200
Exposure bias: -0.3 step
Focal length: 55 mm [ on a 55-250 mm lens ]
WB: Auto
Shutter Priority

I enjoy the whole creative process from beginning to end and seek to discover and portray the world in all of it’s rich, intense colours and interesting forms, textures and subjects. I draw inspiration from the harmonious colour schemes often present in the natural environment when creating my Graphic Designs, or composing a Photograph or other work.

Well captured here……. I really like your composition here with the foreground and the light reflection to the right, very tranquil and calming…..!!!

  • It was so quiet all you could really hear was the water moving about and the occasional boat every few minutes. Thank you !

    beautiful James…
looking at this image I feel as if I’m actually there experiencing the evening decending! x

  • Thank you TC ! :)x It was getting a bit cold. It was actually a lot darker than this image would suggest – 2 seconds is a long time for light to get onto the image sensor.

Lovely photo….love the pinkish hues from the last of the sun and the sky and clouds are gorgeous

  • Thank you ! It’s actually 1/2 an hour after sunset and I’m shooting in the dark – the camera makes it look a lot earlier and lighter. [ I think camera’s are amazing technology ]
