The Busy Life Of Mr Gershwin Gull by

A silly title, but I’m feeling silly so it’s perfect for the occasion. :))

A montage that includes a number of different shots captured in either the Shutter Priority or Aperture Priority Mode of a Canon 450D in New South Wales, Australia. All the images were full scale shots that were scaled down, lopped or cropped and laid out in Photoshop Elements 7.

Taking a crisp flight shot has been on my Mission List for a while now and I try to sneak a few in quickly between photographing the bigger scenic shots. I took a four shot flight sequence but the birds were so close for the first shot that the camera couldn’t focus properly – and the other ones looked very similar to each other.

I enjoy the whole creative process from beginning to end and seek to discover and portray the world in all of it’s rich, intense colours and interesting forms, textures and subjects. I draw inspiration from the harmonious colour schemes often present in the natural environment when creating my Graphic Designs, or composing a Photograph or other work.

  • Thanks for your great comment and making this a fave ! I would have barely noticed all the things they do if I wasn’t photographing them.

some lovely crisp captures and a pleasure to view large! nice work
    :))

  • The funny bit is the thought of people buying a card with a dead Fish Head on it, but who knows your luck in a " biggish " city. :)) Thanks Dinghy !

I love the title, it adds to the images… it could be the beginning of a story. x

  • Thanks TC, it does sound a bit like a title for a Children’s book. But writing novels can cause insanity – too much work, locked away in a garage or an attic. :)

    lovely work!

  • Thanks Tara, it was a good shoot that went down this path – it was actually supposed to be focused on the scenery at first ! I thought about draping textures and adding graphics but sometimes I prefer to try and cater to the average buyer / tastes and keep it all raw.

  • Thanks for your very encouraging feedback Lori ! The shot called " Who Stole My Hairdryer " was replaced by the one called " All That Dancing Has Made Me Sleepy ". :))xx

    Magnificent work!

  • Thanks Andy, much appreciated ! I thought about compiling it all and then adding textures etc to grunge it all up but decided to leave it simple.

This is wonderful James !! A fav.

  • Thank you Jennifer ! I probably looked a bit crazy devoting almost an entire shoot to the birds. :)) Non-photographers wouldn’t " get it ", but I was in my own world and I really enjoyed taking them.
