A spectacular Winter sunset over Swansea Channel as twilight looms. Swansea is situated in Lake Macquarie on the East Coast of Australia. It’s a very popular spot for people who love the water – excellent for fishing, sailing, boating, swimming, and paddling. It also has a lot of great surf spots close to Swansea Heads.

Captured using a Canon 450D with a standard Canon 55 – 250 mm lens.

Whata great shot James well done!

  • Thanks Al ! At this place you can face the ocean for lighter scenes, or face west for more contrast. This is an untouched shot on EV 0.

Good shot James. They have come to roost. We have pelicans where we live now nearer the coast.

  • We have stacks of them all over Newcastle / Lake Macquarie. They were down the end there because there’s a table where the fisherman prepare their bait and throw the off-cuts to the birds. Thanks for your feedback Gloria !

I like the little sparks of light from the street on the solid black.

  • Thanks Murray ! That’s a motel sign, a street sign and a bunch of car headlights / tail lights – the light " we had to have " [ to borrow a line from Prince Paul Keating].

    WOW !!! amazingf shot

  • Thanks for your nice feedback Nancy ! Much appreciated ! I was very happy with this location – you can shoot the Sunset, but the sun doesn’t actually get in the shot so it can’t negatively affect the exposure.
