Coming Unstuck – Two

This Aerial attempt by a Professional Surfer (a shredder!) at “Surfest 2014” was just too high and too radical to witness and look at as a Finished Image. So I decided to include it in my red Bubble Gallery for the Wow Factor of the scene. The second shot in the sequence has him falling faster than his board did, so he became at risk of getting a fin chop or a board to the head as it would eventually fall on him unless he was very lucky! :))

I only uploaded this image to show Donna19, a highly valued online friend and spiritual sister of mine (she’s very real and very cool) from the USA.

    wow, great action shot….

  • He’s got no control over where the surfboard ends up at this stage – the nose could hit him in the back of his left leg and he wouldn’t feel it until he’s under water. But he was O.K, after all. Thanks again, Robin!

A glorious capture, looks like his cutback didn’t quite make it.

  • It’s actually an aerial (probably a front side 180) attempt, not a cutback which is when you ride out onto the shoulder of the wave then do a 180 degree u-turn back towards the foam, before turning around 180 degrees again and continuing to ride across the peeling wave. Thanks for your comment Larry! I didn’t know exactly what he was going to do as he approached the top of the wave, but this was a great bonus scenario.

Nice image, thanks for sharing in the World of EOS!

  • Cheers Randy! I wasn’t expecting him to “bail” like this & he’s lost all control of his safety. :)

    Wonderful action shot, perfectly captured!

  • Thanks Vigor, it’s the second part of a two shot sequence. I was hoping that he’d make this aerial which was about 5 to 7 feet above the wave, but he “bailed it”.
