Frontside Flip - Empire Park Skate Park by

“Frontside Flip – Empire Park Skate Park”

A local skater named Shaun does a trick called a Frontside flip on the street obstacle course at Empire Park Skate Park in Newcastle, Australia.

To perform this trick, the skater hits the tail of his board on the ground while jumping up in the air – at the same time as sliding his front foot up and kicking his front foot off the side of his board on about a 45 degree angle. He extends that kick out as the board flips underneath him and pulls his legs up towards his chest at the same time, then when it has finished the rotation and is facing upright he puts his feet back on the board and prepares to land back on the ground.

This original Digital Photograph was captured with a Canon 450D and a 55 – 250 mm lens:
F-stop: f/5
Exposure time: 1/2000 sec.
ISO speed: ISO-200

I enjoy the whole creative process from beginning to end and seek to discover and portray the world in all of it’s rich, intense colours and interesting forms, textures and subjects. I draw inspiration from the harmonious colour schemes often present in the natural environment when creating my Graphic Designs, or composing a Photograph or other work.

This is more like the thought of skateboarding, nothing is touching, in a meditative state, visualizing:)

  • Thanks for your interesting observation, Donna! :-) For a fraction of a second everything was weightless.

Great moment in time… caught perfectly!!! ☺♥

  • Thank you! :0x I used the Center Focus Point and from this perspective it trashed the Rule Of Thirds in this shot, but I’m happy with other aspects of the capture.
