Bodysurfers - Nobbys Beach by

“Bodysurfers – Nobbys Beach”

The sun was out, the weather was warm and there were lots of people enjoying various past-times at Nobbys Beach on this summer afternoon. Some people were Sail Boarding, a few were Kite Surfing (using a small parachute/kite to tow you across the water on a purpose built surfboard) and lots of people were swimming or bodysurfing.

I enjoy the whole creative process from beginning to end and seek to discover and portray the world in all of it’s rich, intense colours and interesting forms, textures and subjects. I draw inspiration from the harmonious colour schemes often present in the natural environment when creating my Graphic Designs, or composing a Photograph or other work.

Love the names you give your beaches. We have this kitesurfing here and I love to watch their energy. Wonderful place to capture such a fantastic shot. Good morning

  • What we now call Nobbys Headland and Nobbys Beach was an island over 100 years ago. They filled the gap between the island and the shore with large boulders etc (to create a safe, protected harbour entrance) and over time the sand built up to create a really nice beach.

I got a lot more nice shots of the place that afternoon, but I only ever put a few from any photo session on RB. Thanks for your comment and the fave! :) (I’m glad you called it Kitesurfing, too – I’d forgotten the right name for the sport)

  • Thanks Maggie! :) It has a decent reef break further out the back than these swimmers and as you can see, there were lots of people enjoying the weather and the water that day.

    Postcard perfect James…. fabulous work !!! ☺♥

  • Thanks Evita! :))xx It can seem like a spot/place has nothing left to photograph, but there are lots of smaller scenes within the bigger scene at any place we go – that’s what I was exploring that afternoon.

Australian Summer captured at it’s very best … you are quite right … there is always something to photograph at any beach … it is never quite the same ☺ ☺

  • Thank you for your great comment Trish! :-)) Even with about 8 beaches in my local area, I reached a point a few years ago where it was very hard for me to get in the car and go and take more photos at any of those local beaches. It all felt stale like I had captured it all before and what would I come home with this time that was new? For a while I shot other subjects, inland. Then I decided that there was still always a fresh subject at the beach if I looked for it – and at any other place.

There’s always something, even different light, cloud formation, exposed rocks, washed up treasures and seasonal bird life .. my other half always wonders why I take the camera when we walk on the beach … I can guarantee if I don’t take it I will miss an infrequently seen subject.

  • As well as those things from nature, the people are doing different sports etc according to the weather/surf conditions. At the beginning, I never used to include people in my landscape shots (pure nature only) but I changed my mind about that approach a few years ago.
