A Thing Of Wonder - Beachcomber Series by

“A Thing Of Wonder – Beachcomber Series”

I decided to explore the shoreline at the beach in the late afternoon for any shells or strange little things that I could take macro photographs of. I found some great little objects that I’ve decided will make nice additions to my Beachcomber Series that I started last year.

I crouched down to get a low, almost level perspective for this shot to enhance the view of this mini scene.

Newcastle, Australia.

This Untouched Digital Photograph was captured with a Canon 450D and a 55 – 250 mm lens:
F-stop: f/9

Exposure bias: -0.7 step
Focal length: 250 mm [ on a 55-250 mm lens ]

I enjoy the whole creative process from beginning to end and seek to discover and portray the world in all of it’s rich, intense colours and interesting forms, textures and subjects. I draw inspiration from the harmonious colour schemes often present in the natural environment when creating my Graphic Designs, or composing a Photograph or other work.

a piece of Coral? Loving your series so much James. You capture a grain of sand so clearly! Guessing your really in love with technology:)

  • I think it’s some kind of crustacean that lives in a shell and it’s too big to be coral. I do enjoy the things that technology allows us to do. Thanks for your great comment and the fave! :-)

  • Thank you! :))xx I’ll shoot it differently next time to replace this shot – just a fraction further away for more accurate focus.

I was hoping that I might identify some of my beach finds when I saw the thumbnail … they fascinate me … I have one that is 3.5cm deep and 2.5cm wide with smaller ones attached to the sides … great colour in this shot.

  • I can tell you that it’s two shells fused together, but that’s all I know about it. :-) I’ve got other shots where they seem to be growing out of a Natural Cement made from sand granules.
