Departed - But Lingering

Departed - But Lingering

Another variation that was derived from the ” Departed Souls ” piece.

Created in Photoshop. I added a photograph of the clouds, then I applied a few filters on different layers and flattened it. I bumped up the contrast to give it a darker, more ominous visual feel

Thanks Heaps blamo ! Ta for the fav as well !

I like this one, but it ” feels ” like the one I lost was better – my eyes tell me, but I couldn’t recreate it properly. I will try again tomorrow if I get the time.

This effect makes the pic look real moody! Excellent!

  • reflector replied

Thanks AnnaMarie, that was my intention exactly ! I’m getting in the mood for a Fan Art I want to make for a Heavy Metal band. This is a visual practice run. It has to be ” dark ” to suit their musical style.

Like this one better as well- i think the red tones add more to the feel- awesome work

  • reflector replied

Thanks Cheryl, I agree ! This version was created using the other one as a starting point and going moodier. It’ll go darker and moodier again in the next one that uses different montage imagery !

i like the other…but this one holds a more superantural feeling…like dusk

  • reflector replied

Thanks very much t1ny ! It’s great to get a comment from an artist of your calibre !

For me it’s the other way around. The other one is visually mellower on the effects, but this one is intentionally more spiritual and supernatural – so I like it more. I love the music of a Heavy Metal Band called ” Trivium ” and I want to make a fan art – a mock CD cover, just in honor of their skill and intense energy. This was a bit more practice for when I get the free time to design that.

    I swear there’s nothing like ” Post-Teenage Enthusiasm ”. Laughing Here ! :D

OoOoOoHhHh = cool comment, thanks Jianina ! That fog is supposed to suggest the lingering spirits of the departed souls in this graveyard. Cool with a Shiver !

Great work, I prefer the red version too.

  • reflector replied

Thanks a lot linda ! So do I, it was made after the first one and required more effort. Plus it got closer to where I want to get with the visual mood that it creates.
