A Time For Withering

A Time For Withering

I had never noticed a flower in this state of decline before. The petals had browned and curled over on the ends and it actually looked more visually striking than a healthy bloom on the same bush.

This floral montage was created in Paint Shop Pro by enlarging and cropping the original photo and making it the base layer. Then I extracted the flower from it’s background and placed it on the layer above, at 100 % scale. I adjusted the Layer Modes to soften the contrast of the enlarged Layer, so that the small original stood out from the background image.

Lovely work with the contrasts James, very effective and pretty colours

  • reflector replied

Thanks Trudi ! The original [ smaller ] image kind of disappeared into the background without that change to the bigger image.

  • reflector replied

Thanks a lot Blamo ! It was nearly impossible to capture this on the plant [ the fence was too close to keep it out of the frame ], so I brought it indoors for a staged photo the other week. Thanks for making it a fave !

Thats what i call dedication ….........

  • reflector replied

It was frustrating to see it blooming and know that most of the best ones were too high to point ground wards and avoid the fence. Indoor shoots don’t usually turn out too well for me, so it was a nice challenge to understand my camera and photography more.
