Preservation Or Loss
Humanities progress has come at a heavy price to the natural environment. Pollution and destruction of natural habitats is slowly being reversed ( as much as possible ) at many locations all over the world, including Newcastle.

Shannon Rene' ...
wow…powerful piece!
reflector replied
Thanks Shannon ! I’ve been going over to this Island for a few months now and it’s got great scenery and many species of birds.
Shannon Rene' ...
ah…islands..its been years since ive been on one! (sigh)
reflector replied
Really ? I live on the biggest one in the world – Australia, the Island Continent ! And this one here is in our town about 25 minutes from my house. It’s cool – like wandering around in Africa, looking at wild creatures !
linda858100
THIS IS VERY LOVELY.
reflector replied
Thanks Linda, I really appreciate your feedback and the Favourite !
cherylc1
WOW-my friend!!!! powerful image and message!!!!!!
reflector replied
Thanks Cheryl ! I made this on the “Late Shift”, and one day I’ll sleep properly ! I’m glad you liked it and thanks for the Fave ! They had an Open Day there last week, but I had to drop out due to that neck problem – but would have been interesting to go.
Shannon Rene' ...
must be nice! lol….last island i was on was….hmmm…...merritt island and that was back in feb..i need another vacation! :)
reflector replied
Where’s Merritt ? Never heard of it. Vacations are what I need a real one of – you don’t get one in my current situation. So any day of the week I don’t work has been my “vacation”, not a week or two.
linskudd
I like this. ;o)))
reflector replied
Thanks very much, I’m glad you do ! Thanks too for the Fave !
Sue Wotton
You’ve done it again! Great work, James.
reflector replied
Thanks very much ! I’m slowing down to spend more time on individual pieces, which is hard with a go, go, go attitude. :)
Thanks for the Fave, Sue !

reflector replied
Thank you Gwenda !
Bev Woodman
Wow James – this is a very interesting but effective treatment.
reflector replied
Thanks Bev, it’s appreciated !
Lori Peters
Stunning work, James. The city that I live in is growing so rapidly that many habitats are being destroyed. I used to see antelope by the road but they have been forced to move out on the prairie. It is a sad thing. XXX
reflector replied
Thank you Lori ! It’s the same thing here too, with new suburbs spreading out to take the forests every day. But there are species that are very adaptable. Like Kookaburra’s and Gallah’s – they don’t care if they perch in a tree or on your Clothes line !
AlMiller
Another great piece of work James well done
reflector replied
Thanks a lot Al !

Virginia McGowan
this is brilliant art James fantastic treatment
so glad Newcastle is getting looked after. When I first was taken there it looked like the end of the earth to me, nothing but BHP smog dirty water ,old run down buildings. Of course I got to see the Parthenon though….
reflector replied
Parthenon ? I can’t even remember where that was now – about 20 or 25 years ago it may have been gutted and re-developed, I forget. There was always much more to see here than the Steelworks – but we were branded with it. Arguably the best beaches in NSW and so much more too. Thanks for the compliment Ginny !
JohnThunderbird
possibly one of your best works J, 11 out of 10

reflector replied

shallay
Painfully effective metaphor – nice words of hope, though :))
reflector replied
Yeah, they focus on the preservation. But the marketing and luxury-driven lives we have been programmed to live will always be at odds with each other.
Thanks Shallay ! Now turn off your PC and go for a walk, or listen to some music etc etc ! :0 [ Only a suggestion, never a command ]
shallay
Right you are, don’t know why I’m still here!!;)
blamo
very symbolic …...........Bravo
reflector replied
Thanks Blamo, at the place where this was shot the news is getting better all the time – reversing the damage slowly.

Thanks for your encouragement PA ! This was taken at a Wetland Rehabilitation Centre that I was doing Desktop Publishing for and the texture is a photo I took for a small custom Texture Bank I have on my PC.
Joanne Bradley
Poweful image, great treatment! And powerful statement!
reflector replied
Thank you for the compliment Joanne ! This is taken from a little wharf at the Kooragang Wetlands Centre in Australia. They are planting trees and scientifically managing the environment on an island that has been farmed for over 100 years and also suffered from the effects of industrial pollution.
Shanina Conway
Wonderful work James…I love your textures;)
reflector replied
Thanks a lot for your support Shanina ! This has been on RB for a while, I just shuffled it to the front a bit.
