With -7 degree temperatures I was surprised that either the camera equipment or me would work properly. The weather was going from overcast greyness to misty nothingness to broken cloud to misty grey nothingness.

I use my Hahnel wireless shutter trigger a lot but have found the hit and miss approach to taking a shot then running back to the camera a bit of a pain, especially when it’s in thick snow. So….

I bought myself a Canon WFT-E4 II B Wireless File Transmitter and now use my iPhone 5 view in live view, control the iso, shutter, aperture and everything else the WFT has to offer. OMG it’s such a revelation to use. If I wasn’t in the shot myself I’d be back in the car keeping warm. It’s range seems to be limitless, based on this shot I must have been at least 70 odd meters away.

I hope you like it.

Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 24mm, f/11, 1/100 sec, ISO 100. No filters used.
This shot is also available from a photobook collection called All Business by redtree.me

excellent work. long distance remote control? (or a little helper?)

  • Hi there, I use a Hahnel GigaT pro as well as a WFT-4II and my iPhone. Only me out there taking these shots. :-) At 7am in the morning I’d be lucky to see anything but deer and maybe a surly Woburn estate manager. Thanks for the lovely comment.
