Solitude Footprints

Due to the amazing amount of comments I have had from Solitude I thought I’d share this shot. I couldn’t help myself, I had to walk up to the tree, hence the footprints in the virgin snow, although retracing my footprints to take the photograph was very difficult. This shot was taken in St Johann, Austria. I hope you like it.

Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/11, 1/400 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. A massive amount of dust and hair removed in photoshop.

    David, this image touches my heart. I live in Montana, and love the snow. Your image has such wonderful subtle contrast and your foot prints lead into the subject by grabbing my eye. The simplicity of composition speaks volumes!! Fantastic image.

    Off to the US eh? as long as it’s not Florida you should get some snow. Tips, tips hmmm let me see. Hint’s of what I should do. Don’t drive silly on snowy roads, don’t stand on thin ice, take a jumper, have on clean underwear, remember where you parked and always have a charge mobile phone in case of disaster.     Thanks David – I don’t drive, so can’t drive, let along silly, I am always with my phone, and definitely bringing a warm jumper and coat. And definitely not going near florida. I was thinking more along the lines of tips for cold weather shooting, like keep your batteries in your pocket, wear two sets of gloves, always underexpose by 0.7 of a stop that sort of jazz :)
