In Norse mythology, a valkyrie (from Old Norse valkyrja “chooser of the slain”) is one of a host of female figures who decides who falls and dies in battle.
Inspired by the poem Helgakviða Hjörvarðssonar, One Valkyrie (the bright faced lady) leads the band
" Three times nine girls, but one girl rode ahead,
white-skinned under her helmet;
the horses were trembling, from their manes
dew fell into the deep valleys,
hail in the high woods;
good fortune comes to men from there;
all that I saw was hateful to me."

    And the honored dead goes onward to Valhalla. Awesome creation!!!

  • Thank you, JR. This took forever to draw! All those different action sort of poses and the fact they are men(which are hard for me to draw) took almost all day.

    Unbelievable! And she is truly magnificent!!

  • Thank you! Usually, the Valkyrie look sort of scary in drawings. I wanted her to look sort of indifferent and wrapped up in her work.

    Great one, RQE. Looking forward to a color version.

  • Thank you, Eldon! I am getting braver and braver about drawing men.
