  • Thank you for your comment. I was working from a photo of Carroll where he was holding a huge lens for a camera. I wanted to put Alice’s likeness in the glass of the lens but I couldnt get the angle of the lens in his hands adjusted quite right. I finally settled on a glass gazing ball which was a popular item for gardens in his time (and ours). I think I would have been happier with the old fashion camera lens but some things are hard to draw if you dont have a basic understanding of what they look like except in a blurry old photo.
