The Caroni Swamp is an important tourist attraction and provides important habitat for the Scarlet Ibis (Eudocimus ruber), one of the national birds of Trinidad and Tobago.

My Comment:

The red speck in the sky is a Scarlet Ibis. Sadly, while in the swamp, I could hear several gunshots in the distance.

    Oh yes the Scarlet Ibis…what a treat that was. I photographed them a few trips back. Will see if I have something to post during the week.
