This is a mixed media piece; created using a watercolor painting that I digitally altered with layers and layers of various colors then added enhancements with GIMP brushes I made myself. The original painting as well as this altered image are/were inspired by growing up in an area rich in wildlife. Most of my childhood was spent outdoors exploring what Mother Nature has to offer. Emotions rushed through me as I finished this piece and I kinda got a little teary! Let’s just say it moved me. You see, I was about to trash the watercolor! It was an experiment in watercolor techniques….just playing around while learning. I didn’t really expect it to be anything more. This morning while clearing out some stuff in the studio I happened upon it, setting there in a stack of the same sort of experimental paintings and this little voice nagged at me to do something MORE with it…....and so this is the result. :) VIEW IT LARGE!

    Yes linmarie! I have found new life for some of my watercolor paintings. What fun! I only started working with watercolor last December 2008. I played with a lot of techniques I learned on online tutorials and just stashed them all in my studio. So now, they are all endless possibilities. :) Thank you for your wonderful comment!
