Queen Victoria’s Bathing Machine

Number of views as of 29th February 2016 = 600.

Osborne House on the Isle of Wight was home to British monarch Queen Victoria, her husband Prince Albert and their 9 children.

The estate (now managed by English Heritage) has its own private beach where the Queen regularly bathed and her children learned to swim.

The wooden bathing machine ran down a ramp into the sea. This is the original machine, though it has been restored.

Date: 31st October 2012.
