One of the residents of the Donkey Sanctuary at Slade House Farm, Salcombe Regis, near Sidmouth (East Devon, England).

Established in 1969, the Donkey Sanctuary (a registered charity) was founded by Dr Elisabeth Svendsen MBE.

The charity is the world’s largest donkey and mule charity, caring for unwanted, neglected and sick animals on its 8 farms, of which Slade House Farm is the largest, home to around 200 donkeys and the only one of the charity’s farms open to the general public.

Over the last 40+ years, the charity has helped over 14000 animals.
