Hambledon Hill, about 5 miles north of Blandford Forum, is one of Dorset’s Iron Age hill forts. Its origins may be even older, as excavations have revealed activity during the Neolithic period, possibly up to 5000 years ago. The earthworks shown here may be hut platforms. In its heyday, the hill fort covered an area of approximately 125,000 square metres, but appears to have been abandoned around 300 BC. Blackmore Vale stretches away into the distance.
Can you imagine what it would be like to live up here?
