Portland Bill Lighthouse, Dorset

One of three lighthouses to be built at Portland Bill (Isle of Portland, Dorset, England), this (the newest) is 35 metres (115 feet) high and was built in 1906.
Operated remotely by the Trinity House organisation, the light protects shipping from the shallow reef and tidal race conditions surrounding the headland.
Nearby Portland harbour was the venue for the 2012 Olympic sailing events.
