Seventh Wonder
Seventh Wonder
Here are 7 wonders of the Isle Of Wight:
1. Cowes you cannot milk
2. Freshwater where you find salt water
3. Lake where you won’t get your feet wet
4. Newport you cannot bottle
5. Newtown which is really quite old
6. Ryde where you don’t have to
7. The Needles you cannot thread
The idea for the Wonders of the Isle of Wight was originated by W. J. Nigh, a Ventnor postcard maker over 100 years ago.
Shot of The Needles taken from the National Trust owned ‘Needles Old Battery’.
The current lighthouse was built in 1859, and the helipad added in 1987.

Thanks Dave, much appreciated. It was a clear day, though as I’m sure you know, this is not always a good sign of the weather to come!

A great view is Had from the needles battery,
RedHillDigital replied
Thanks Colin, you can even go down a tunnel to an old searchlight position for a closer look!
Arrowman
Yes, I remember that viewpoint, I got a shot from there 30 years ago
RedHillDigital replied
Nice one – must have been before they built the helipad on top of the lighthouse!
Arrowman
I think it was 1981
RedHillDigital replied
That makes sense, I believe the helipad was added in ‘87.
