A Cinemagram Challenge

A Cinemagram Challenge by Natalie Tyler
If you have an iPhone you may like to join us in the newest obsession at RBHQ. Cinemagram is a free app that enables you to make creative moving pictures in the style of Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg’s Cinemagraphs, using the camera on your iPhone. Another hipster time waster you say? Well at least one killjoy in the office also said this and he hasn’t stopped sending through examples for this post since last Tuesday. And he doesn’t even own an iPhone.
It’s easy to dismiss apps like Cinemagram as a distraction from Serious Business™ but never underestimate the power of a little creative playtime. Faffing about with Cinemagram might just spark an idea or dust the cobwebs of a part of your brain that hasn’t had a workout for a little while. And in the hands of people with skillz in the disciplines of art, design and photography, we think this app might just inspire some artistic loveliness. So go forth and take The Mighty Midweek Cinemagram Challenge.
The Mighty Midweek Cinemagram Challenge
Firstly, you’ll need to download the Cinemagram App. Set to work creating a Cinemagram or three and post your best work in the comments below this post. For those who need help with this bit, see our handy guide to posting images. And if you’re the kind of person who likes a detailed run through on how an app works, here’s one an enthusiastic Canadian man prepared earlier.
We’ve cancelled some important meetings during the past week and have roped in a few pets and passers by to bring you the examples below. And we can report that making these moving pictures is more than a little addictive. We’re looking forward to the artists in the RB community trumping our efforts with your talent and skill. If you need further incentive, we’ll return here later in the week with some iTunes/App Store vouchers for a couple of our favorite efforts.
