360 Degree Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera

Jonas Pfeil’s prototype Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera is a very cool idea. Made from 36 fixed-focus 2 megapixel mobile phone camera modules, it captures a full 360 degree panoramic shot from the highest point when thrown into the air. The image can then be loaded onto your computer and viewed in a program that allows you to zoom in on the finer detail. Jonas and his team are currently looking for an investor or a partner to build the camera and hope it will be available for sale in the future. If you could get your hands on one of these, where would you take it and what would you shoot?

OMFG if they can fix the parallax error [easy] and make this in mass-production and therefore affordable, this is gonna be THE NEXT BIG THING!

    How freaking cool is that?

    Imagine the possibilities!…

You could fire one straight-up out of an air-cannon!

When this toy goes public, I am gonna stand in line for one!

Awesome! I’d buy one and toss it up on top of the Empire State Building or during a fireworks show, wouldn’t that be cool!

I wonder if they plan on coloring the outside with something that won’t reflect green into the lenses and cause that green tinge. Otherwise, Very cool!

I don’t know about throwing it up anywhere but i sure would like to hang it in the middle of a lightning storm! And drop it out of a high-flying plane through broken fluffy white clouds. Also, put it into a lightweight, totally transparent cover and place it into the water at the top of a high waterfall which has a number of ledges on the way down.
