Comic Con Update: RedBubble in the Big Apple by RedBubble

Posted on October 14, 2011

NYCC has begun. Well, almost, technically it opens in about 10 hours but this evening there was a preview for the press and some hardcore fans so we had to have our booth spic ‘n’ span which mainly involved hanging lots of your splendid art everywhere.

It was pretty bare when we turned up a few days ago…

..but that soon changed, here’s a glimpse of what it all looked like tonight in New York…

These people are dancing, in public, without any alcohol…

Our magnificent booth…

Here’s Pilgrim working the public…

And quite to our surprise we found some actual comics…

Lots of comics…

We’re getting some great feedback already and we’re very much looking forward to the weekend and getting to meet a heap of artists and fans and anyone else who fancies stopping by. Make sure you come and say hello if you’re planning on attending the event, and keep an eye on our facebook for live updates over the weekend.

Nice work – here’s hoping it generates some interest!

Nice set up. I see that Redbubble favors fantasy art best, judging by what was taken to NYC.
If that is all people want, then I know why my art doesn’t sell. No one wants realisum, they are into cartoons and fantasy.

You’d probably want to factor in that this is at the New York Comic Con, and as such the art on display would be tailored towards that particular audience. At the end of the day, if this draws more interest in RB and more traffic to the site, I’m sure we’d see it flowing on to other areas of the community as a result.

Great stuff guys wish I could go may be next time .I feel any exposure to red bubble is a good thing .
With all art it’s about the emotion of the viewer and the creater that matters and comics were almost always about escapism And what better way to escape than fantasy .alot of poeple will be running around with costumes, an early start to Holloween ,very festive !!

  • Michael Lee

That’s an impressive booth. Bigger and better than I expected. Congratulations to everyone who’s art was featured in the booth and I hope RB makes a splash at the con.

@FlowersEtc: You bring comic and sci fi art to a comic convention where it’s most likely to impress the fans of sci fi and comics. If that want to go see realism they’d go to an art museum which sure many do but they’re to indulge in the fantastic at comic con.

Don’t be discouraged. RB has a place for all styles and realism might even have a wider RB audience.

Man that was chock full of typos! Let’s try that again…

    RedBubble made a great showing.

Traffic to the site matters, yes. What kind of traffic probably does, too, so now I’m beginning to grasp the significance of the changes I’ve seen here lately.

The booth is stupendous. You all went all out. Love the 3D cubes, and how you are taking 200% advantage of the space by displaying art in front and on the back of the booth, inside the cubes, and on the cutout letter blocks. Skateboard decks — alright! (I saw that!) Fantastic display of great art from our comic-making peers, here, sure to draw interest from the crowd. And great that you bought in on a corner spot – more visibility and traffic. Have fun!!
