Which works are being published?
It’s the answer we’ve all been waiting for. I’m thrilled to be able to announce all the works that have been included in limited edition journal, In The Moment. With such an outstanding level of entries, it was tough work for our judges. Each published artist and writer will receive a copy of In The Moment and a $200 RedBubble Voucher for category winners and $100 for other published works. (Individual winners will be contacted directly next week)
CLICK HERE for a list of all the finalists

News about our Gaia – The Living Planet competition
In The Moment has been a mammoth effort and we are so proud of the final result. However one thing we have learned, is that having the best possible final product takes lots of time and effort. More than we expected.
It takes time to create, choose and submit and entry. It takes time for judges to have a good long think and decide on the winners. Once the judging is completed, the process of designing, proofing, printing and packaging requires a lot of care, attention and time.
We’d rather give you an amazing product that makes you go ‘wow,’ than rush something out the door. And we feel that we owe it to the artists being published to represent their work as best we can. Time, it’s a wonderful thing. And to give everybody more of it, we’re extending the deadline for entries to Gaia until April 16th, with the publication to come out in May.
A HUGE thanks to everyone who has been a part of this journey, especially all the artists and writers who have shared their creativity. Your contribution and enthusiasm has been inspirational.

Can’t wait to see the final layout – the teaser earlier looked fab!! (that is assuming i make it to te comp to buy my copy on time!) Which brings me to my next question – do we have a price for this wonderful publication?!

Congrats to the winners, I don’t think I’ll be buying it because I thought there were going to be more works included, and I’m definitely sad that more illustrative pieces weren’t included.

Mmmmm must say I agree with Darren – perhaps I misunderstood what the publication was about? But certainly huge congrats to those chosen – what a buzz!!!

Congratulations to all the artists and writers chosen. I am constantly amazed by the talent here on RedBubble and a book like this is testament to the depth and quality of its members.
adgray, 6 months ago
Congratulations all !!
Well the pics are what I expected an art selection like I’d see in any art book – perhaps not enough of them to show the scope I’ve been finding in here but good nonetheless
Now to find the time to go read the written submissions [then the do$h to order a copy]
Bytheway…. when will in the moment be open for new submissions & how many can I submit? ~ adg

georgiegirl, 6 months ago
Congrats to all the winners…. imagine how humungous the book would be if ALL our faves were to be published!!! Juilee, it’s the second groovy publication. We had one last year called ‘Unleashed’. Full of stunning stories and fab photos. If anyone has a copy, do you fancy showing if off to everyone?

well done all…nice to see so many hosts works chosen…
Melinda Kerr, 6 months ago
Congrats everyone. Just a suggestion. With these comps I wonder if we might have a little more direction as to what the subject of the competition means? I had absolutely no idea what ‘In the Moment’ meant, just as I have no idea of ‘The living planet’. Just wondering if it’s possible to clarify this. Otherwise I don’t think I’ll enter anymore ‘cos I get so stressed out trying to decide it’s does my tiny brain in :)
But well done to those who got it and got in :)
Kevin Kroeker, 6 months ago
If you are a finalist does that mean you are in the publication?
Scott Ruhs, 6 months ago
Well, lots of awesome images, but I don’t see how most of them qualify as “In The Moment”. Still a stunning collection. Congrats to those that made it.
David Haviland, 6 months ago
Congrats to all that made it. For those that did not make it, I like to remind myself that there were thousands of entries ad that in the end it came down to the personal preference of the judges, ART IS SUBJECTIVE, and should always remain so.
mlgkats, 6 months ago
they are very good choices, should be a good book
Darren Sharp, 6 months ago
Not sour grapes and i have to agree with Melinda’s comment on making the direction clearer, also i find it quite strange that there is at least 15 finalists based in Victoria and it seems that new profiles have been created with similar shots to other winners.
I must have completely misinterpreted the criteria and i’m sure others have too.
It just seems to me we often see the same faces in featured pages and now this, I understand there is alot of talent in Melbourne but surely not to put everyone else on the back seat!!!!!!
LoveMy7Cs, 6 months ago
Great Work!! Hats off to ALL you very talented people!!
krwdesigns, 6 months ago
Congratulations to everyone! I agree with some of the other posts that I would’ve liked to see more illustrative and graphic designs. Plus looking at the winners also had me wondering if I’d misunderstood the concept of “In The Moment”, but – that’s how these things go. It’s not always easy to make everything perfectly clear in black and white, so we all had our own individual ideas of the meaning of the theme. Anyway – all that aside, I think this will be a wonderful collection and I’m very happy for all of the finalists and winners. Good work everyone!

I think that Melinda may have a point with the Gaia competition, maybe just a tad more info about the finer details of the judging criteria would be great..
I dont however believe that people should be annoyed about the results of the In The Moment competition, it has been judged and completed and the results are as they are, the judges had a reason to choose the images that they chose so they are obviously worthy of winning..
Julie Langford

@ Jo – 80 pages, 60 winners – whats going on the other 20 pages :)
Ben de Putron, 6 months ago
alot of staged pictures for a “in the moment” theme i feel!...congrats to the winners but perhaps the rules should be more defined and not many pictures for your bucks puts me off buying it!!

Darren Stones, 6 months ago
Thanks, Jo. It’s good to see things on the move.
I enquired months ago to Martin Hosking about submitting words and pics as a package for this publication and it wasn’t a goer. Bummer.
Words and pics as a package, even pics with extended captions or short stories would be worth considering in the future.
A definite theme and clear guidance allows people to pitch their work without second guessing. Making such guidelines available in PDF format would be ideal.
The Living Planet is a theme begging for word and pic submissions.
Kristy Lee, 6 months ago
I’m off to break it then..but no doubt someone else already has..hehehe

Lisa, there’s loads. not sure how many, but loads. more than in the link. speaking of the preview link, the red page you see at the start isn’t the cover – that’s one of the end pages – the cover is secret, special and magical.

The final choices are all excellent and capture the ‘moment’ and the spirit of the idea very well indeed.Congratulations to all who were successful with their entries.
I will echo some of the above comments and say that I am a little disappointed that there were so few paintings, illustrations, drawings or abstracts selected.
However…..next time maybe?

OH MY GOD I AM SO OVEREXCITED! ONE OF MY PICTURES IS THERE! i will stop shouting now i am so honoured to be in such company. i just cannot believe it, i never win anything. And i must say that i though the meaning of this challenge quite clear, as far as photo’s went. it was to capture something that you had to be there for. a secongd later and you would have missed it. still excited and thank you all so much.

georgiegirl, 6 months ago
@ those who are wondering what fills up 20 pages in a book….
It doesn’t take much to fill up 20 pages in this type of book. You’ve got the page opposite the inside front and inside back covers, and then the other side of that is either artistic too or blank, then the title page, contents which is bound to be a double spread, the introductions, the acknowledgements, a few chats about whats inside, then finally an index. Plus anything else I may have missed… It’s sure to be a very impressive book.
Does the outside cover have a lovely velvety matt finish with a spot glossy varnish?
Christine Wilson, 6 months ago
congrats to everyone outstanding work

The below replies is what makes me call Rebubble a bubble gummer site:
1. Excellent
2. ok):
3. whoohoo. These frames are fantastic, so is the moment. Keep rocking guys. You’re awesome.
4. nice work
Personally, I feel you need a better variety of frames and matting. Not everyone’s home looks the same way.
I wish to give my best wishes in their career and congratulate all of the winners. My favorite photo is “Monkey Day Spa”, which also tells a wee story to accompany his photo. There are many people on our World with all have different taste in art, photos, writing and etc.
I failed to mention earlier it would help sells our work around the World, if the writing was is various languages.
Take care, Bonnie

I’ve just bought a copy, only one thing confounds me, how come Redbubble is based in Aussie, (I think), I live in N.Z., and yet I had to pay for the book in USD??? Is it because the Aussie’s hate us kiwis, or has the USD become a global currency? ;-)
