Here’s a wonderful example of how the description on a RedBubble profile can send you on a journey and enable you to discover a world of creativity you previously knew little about. One of our recent homepages featured some breathtaking aerial photography. If you take the time to read the description on this work, you’ll see the aerial image was taken using a kite. Not a hot air ballon or a plane. This artist regularly attaches his camera to a kite and launches it hundreds of metres above the earth.
Click across to KAPgsy’s overview page and a whole world of intriguing information opens up. KAPgsy explains how he discovered KAP (or Kite Aerial Photography) in 2005 and there’s an audible passion in his description. There’s talk of an international KAP community, the loan of kites and equipment from a generous man named Lenny, an apology to his better half for this obsession and off we go. We’re hooked, inspired and itching to find out more. If you’re as intrigued as we are, here’s a fascinating video from Make Magazine explaining the technique and showing off some incredible aerial images.
If this sounds like just the kind of crazy thing you’d like to try, there’s a little more information below. Either way, this discovery has prompted us to head into the weekend, hungry for a little creative time to ourselves and eager to try new things. We hope you’ve been just as inspired by things you’ve seen around the bubble this week.
