Product Review: The Calendar
This week we’re sharing information about our products, for those who are new to RedBubble and as a refresher for bubblers who’ve been with us for a little longer. A great deal of effort goes into chosing products, examining alternative formats and testing the print quality so we can do justice to the great artwork on RedBubble. Today we’re putting 2010 calendars under the microscope.

Words from calendar loving bubblers:
My first order of 2010 Calendars arrived for my local sales. 6 different styles and they all look fantastic. Great job with the print quality. The colors just jump off the page. – DawsonImages
I bought some calendars last year, and was so impressed, I bought some more this year. They make great presents, especially for Grandparents! Affordable, special and great quality! I would recommend them to anyone! – Squelia
I have just received several 2010 calendars that I ordered. They are gorgeous! They are large – 11 3/4” x 16” – most of which is dedicated to the photographs. – Linda Gregory
I just had my first delivery of purchases and wanted to say WOW! I am so impressed with the quality of production. Very, very nice. The calendars are wonderful, and I wanted to say a big thank you to the bubble, and also to the ever warm and friendly Kristina K. I purchased eight of Kristina’s wonderful Lion series calendars, and with one swoop have made a large dint on my Xmas shopping! – rodeorose

Write on?? You think any of us are writing on these calendars?? Oh no, they’re way too good to write on. I’ll buy a Dollar-Store calendar for that. Your calendars are far too high quality to write on!
F.A. Moore
Wow, that’s an impressive offer!! Thanks Mr. Baxter!
Lawford
I think I’ll get a 2010 calendar soon.
I’m gunna hang it in the fridge ’cause every time I open the door it’ll remind me what a cool year I’m having.
Leslie Gustafson
I agree with Nancy!! They are way too nice!
Matt Mawson
I love the quality of RB calendars. And I love that you’ve included my Pups and Mutts calendar in your product review :-)
Foxfires
These calendars are awesome. The colors just POP. Everyone who has seen the ones I’ve ordered have been truly impressed.
Mui-Ling Teh
Thanks for linking my journal in here; though I just noticed that some of my images are not showing up now O.O”””” shouldn’t be happening but I’LL TRY TO GET THAT FIXED!!!!
Tom Godfrey
Thanks Mr B.
Jim Worrall
The quality of the calendars is wonderful however the omission of public holidays from the calendar reduces their appeal for “real world” people, ie. the buying public.
robmac
They are great quality A fantastic christmas present
Karin Taylor
Wonderful, the calendars are superb print quality and the classiest I’ve seen in the market place to date. I think they’re unbeatable qual for the size and print excellence.
Juilee Pryor
to cool for school….
Mui-Ling Teh
Okay my images are fixed now :)
I agree that these calendars are too nice to write on. I think I’d buy these more as an alternative of buying 13 prints than to use as a calendar – but then again if I’m doing that; I can use it as a calendar first and once 2010 is over, cut out the picturesn and frame them __
Rosalie Dale IPA
They are stunning. The only negative feedback I’ve had from last year’s were … pub hols problem (that’s difficult on a gobal front) ... toooo big (!!) ... and with the dates to the RIGHT of the space, people have been fooled, writting things in the wrong space and literally missed appointments. That happened to a couple of my recipients and they were “not happy Jan”.
Love the freebie – Thx Mr B ….
Beau Ravn
The calendars are great, will definately be doing one for next year. A linen finish paper choice option could also be a nice choice.
Don’t know about Jims suggestion of adding public holidays though, as it means the calendars would be specific to a particular country/state/region instead of global.
Vickie Emms
I ordered an impressive calendar of one of my own last year and this year I chose two calendars by friends whose work I enjoy. I found the color a little dark on one of them, but otherwise the paper is wonderful and I will buy again, only thing is, I have no place to hang anymore!!
Mui-Ling Teh
Don’t know about Jims suggestion of adding public holidays though, as it means the calendars would be specific to a particular country/state/region instead of global.
Good point Beau Ravn. That is exactly why I haven’t include my thanksgiving pic in a calendar yet; in Canada that holiday is in October and in the US it’s in November.
Beau Ravn
Agreed Rosalie … the date DOES need to be on the left of the appointment line (i.e. before the writing), not after it.
mikoto
I’m making one of these!!!!
Norman Repacholi
Calendars are great. Aside from being functional and looking good, they’ve been one of my best selling items
Beau Ravn
_That is exactly why I haven’t include my thanksgiving pic in a calendar yet; in Canada that holiday is in October and in the US it’s in November.
Yep .. Mui-Ling, even more awkward for us Aussies with our seasons the opposite way round, picking pics to suit summer, spring, etc when they are opposite! Best to be generic! We don’t even have Thanksgiving, but a totally different set of holidays!
William Sanford
My girlfriend was so impressed with the quality of the greeting cards (she bought 5 different @ 10 each), she bought 15 calendars. She loves the quality of them and so do I.
transmute
Mainly good, although on closer examination I found banding in high-dentisty colour areas on some of the prints that I know is not in the files because I’ve had them printed at a professional lab with a Fuji Frontier printer.
RedBubble replied
Photographic printing on professional paper is still the benchmark for fine art printing (in my opinion). But a calendar printed on photographic paper would probably cost a couple of hundred dollars. So all things considered we’re really happy with the results we’re getting (at this price point).
FlowersEtc
Beautiful and The hook idea is fantastic.
Cordelia
Love the calendars. They are a great way of showing off your work and doing Christmas shopping at the same time!

Any waterfall lovers out there ? I created a very special waterfall calendar for 2010 please visit my profile to get yours :)
Kevin McGennan
Print sharpness is great, although some images still too dark. In terms of format I prefere a calendar where the week ends with the WEEKEND! It’s a pain to have saturday and sunday split over the start/end of the week if you want to use the calendar as a diary for weekends. Also, the cover photo is not always part of the calendar, so could its caption be added on the left of the January caption?
coppertrees
Thanks for the info. I have seen the calenders they are great
Rosemary Scott
The best calendars I know…. I’ve made one of our kids for the last 2 years & the grandparents think it’s fantastic! I look at my John Edwards/Rose Moxon calendar every day & love it! Would never dare write on it though :))
Mae Davis
I think the calendars are amazing.
I have a few ideas to add if no ones minds.
I think it would be great if there was an option to ‘make your own’ calendar by selecting a number of different art works, by different artist, (for the requested price) and assigning these to the desired months.
Also, as I’m often traveling, i much prefer to have a diary or year planner, that i can carry with me. I think it would be awesome if you also offered these instead of just the calendars.
But all in all i think its great… Thanks for the amazing works.
PlatypusPark
Looks like I’ll have to get a new camera – only have 4megapixels and frustrated as all get out. Love looking at others’ calendars though. Good stuff.
Maggie Hegarty
I am happy with my calendars this year but several people have asked me why they are so big. They would have bought them if they had been smaller. Could you consider offering an A4 version as well as an A5 version for 2011? Have you seen the Apple A4 calendars?
RedBubble replied
Maggie – they’re A3 so you art is big!
piacere
Wow! So great. Thanks!
Linda Callaghan
time to order soon…..
georgieboy98
The quality of the paper and the presentation of the calendars is superb but there is one very noticeable difference this year – the colours are darker and I am wondering why this should be.
Gee that Mr Baxter’s a bonza bloke with his special offer – great stuff indeed. I take it this replaces the special free shipping deal you gave us for a period last year? It’s great to have special deals like this at any time, but to have them at the peak buying period is wonderful.
Best wishes to all, Peter
RedBubble replied
There were a few calendars that we’re printed with the wrong calibration settings – if the calendars were printed too dark we’ll replace them.
gabryshak
ditto w/ karin taylor… thanks mr b…
now what excuse do i have to not just take you up on it?
♥t
georgieboy98
Thanks very much for the replacement offer but as it’s only one calendar I’ll hang on to that for myself and order more for family etc. Regards, Peter
georgieboy98
Just a query, perhaps a bit cheeky, but we order 5 of the same calendar, that’s fine, but do they all have to be shipped to the same address? Peter
Ann Marie Donahue
Thanks for the information. I’m in the midst of making calendars and can’t wait to sell them as well as give them as gifts…
lightsmith
I can only go by last year’s calendars, but they were truly superb. I was absolutely blown away by the quality of the printing and the value for money. Yes, I want them cheaper (of course) but they are worth every bit of double redBubbles prices! They are simply gorgeous.
Sharon Perrett
I have a small suggestion to pass on about the calendars, plz plz could we have a small previous month calendar on each page. My boss gets fed up of having to keep finding the previous months page. Most calendars have the small one on the current month, apart from that he’s impressed with the quality and my photography (of course) LOL
Mark Richards
I’m very impressed with the quality and presentation of the Redbubble Calendars as with the other RedBubble products. Many thanks for providing a great service!
Hélène Mogense...
I bought several calendars last year and I was very impressed about the quality. Then I bought several calendars this year too but I have been a bit desappointed because the colors are definitly too dark (especially the light contrast in some pictures)
Can I get some help about this problem?
Thank you very much and best wishes
Hélène
MagpieMagic
The calendars are great quality – I got mine a while back and was very pleased with it.
One bit of info seems to be missing everywhere and that’s the proportions of the area covered by the images in the calendar. It’d be great to know that the max and min proportions are, for example 10” x 10” max and 7”x 7” min so we can crop/extend our images so they fit within the proportion set for the image area. That’s especially important for the front page. Right now it’s a bit hit and miss.
The same is true for the greeting cards. AND it would be nice if there was a square format for the greeting card so square images don’t get squashed and squeezed.
RedHillDigital
RB calendars are superb quality. I’ve bought them for myself and as gifts.
See my collection here
dawndavies
aww sounds great, but a pity that you cannot do this with a mix of 5 callenders as many like differing ones for family and friends, not bulk, but well done, dawnx
Vicki Ferrari
Sounds wonderful!!! Thank you Redbubble and Mr B!!
Yool
Great news….although to late for me :))
I purchased 2 calendars and some of images where to dark.So i wrote to tell RB and I am inpressed how you handled this. The newly printed came in the mail and i am over the moon…...excellent prints and serves and YES next year i’ll order again…....Thanks
Josie Jackson
Well I’m very happy with my calendars, but I agree with Rosalie about the date being better if they are on the left and also the week ending on a weekend. Apart from that I like the clean look with no hols etc., I don’t like “messy” calendars.
catdot
I’ve recently sold some calendars at a market stall and people were really impressed. Great price allowing for a bit of a mark-up for selling, and still affordable to people.
catdot
Love the product reviews by the way. Am forwarding to people who have recently asked about the quality of t-shirts etc.
Coloursofnature
thanks for another great product review, the quality of the calendars is fantastic and thanks for the freebie, now I just need to make a new one! Can we please please please gewt some diries happening as well!!! cheers- Valerie xxxx
Colleen Milburn
I’ve been blown away by the quality of the calendars and at such a great price :))
fiorello
I made mine and now I’m expecting it on the post! i cannot wait to receive it!! ppl who received it prior than me are very satisfied by the quality…
louisegreen
Thanks RB & Mr Baxter – the 2010 calendars are excellent!
artisandelimage
truly interesting… again !
but I am still convince that we should be able to have groups about them, with features, challenges, tips etc…
my best, francis.
Barbara Corvino
The RedBubble calendars are great quality.
Here my gallery 2010 calendar on sale. Customized calendars are available.
Ruth S Harris
The calendars are great, I know at least one person frames each page individually once the month is over!
Silvia Ganora
I’ve bought RB calendars before and they’re fantastic!!!
Donald Cameron
@ MagpieMagic: the image dimensions to fill the front cover are 2371×2875. You can see how this looks on my calendar – it does look very professional printed without the white side borders. To maximise space usage the best shape for the monthly image is a square, mine are 2592×2592 but anything above 2182 will fill the same space.
velvetkatz
I like the idea of calendars, but I cannot hang anything on the walls at home and I have no walls around my desk at work. Can I make a suggestion to start making desk calendars like this
and
I would then happily buy a bunch for my colleagues!
RedBubble replied
Good suggestion – can you please put the suggestion in the feedback forum
robpixaday
WOW!!
Stupendous!!!!!!
Super news!!
thank you!!!!
Lorraine Creagh
Yay, done!!!
kalaryder
Very happy with my calendars, although a couple were a trifle dark, the rest were terrific again.
Agree with velvetkatz above that desk calendars would also be a great line to introduce.
PLEASE, Please, can we have 2011 calendar formats available very, very early next year, so that we can, if wanted, hawk them around to shops for orders etc. Most stores will have their calendar orders finalised in the first quarter of a year.
Thanks
Bluesrose
I’ve received some of my calendars 2010 and I am very satisfied with quality. Thank you!
pene
:) that’s my “buyers booth” photo on the right !!! :)
RB calendars are fabulous !!!!
Nancy Polanski
I totally agree with the suggestion of Mae Smith and others who have requested smaller-sized calendars as an option to the large ones (which I LOVE). I would definitely purchase some of those.
And I also like Sharon Perrett’s suggestion of including the “previous/next” month’s dates (not pictures) in a small version at the bottom of the page. We often need to look ahead or backwards to find a specific date.
I have purchased quite a few of your calendars, and have gotten extremely complimentary feedback about the quality. Just like with the cards I’ve purchased from Red Bubble.
Jaxybelle
This is my third year of giving calendars from redbubble as Christmas presents and my second year of selling them at markets. Love em! As mentioned above there are some great suggestions here and agree with everything Nancy (above) says. I would also love to see them as a product for sale from our bubblesites. I have mentioned it already in the suggestion forum and there are few threads regarding the same suggestion. I know your on to it redbubble. Calendars on our bubblesites please. LOVE EM!!!
Clayton Turner
Would love to be able to sell the calendars through my Bubble Site-, or to let customers pick images from my site to create their own- just some thoughts. Thanks for all that you guys do!
PeterBlake
I made & ordered a calendar just to see what the quality was like.
WOW! Very impressed! And so far I’ve sold three of them!
I just tell me friends that they can peruse my gallery & tell me which images they’d like & in what order and I make s personalized one for them.
Love them!
Christer Fribrock
Can we have an option on week starting on Mondays? Mostly common in EU I believe? BTW,why start on Sundays anyway?
Dside666
Yeah these look great will have to start taking some pics
carlotta peacock
Brilliant xxxxxx
Princessbren2006
I find the quality of the calandar to not be to my liking I will buy one from the shops this year
Sylvia Pawlitzki
I loved the quality of the calendar, but it printed my photos way too dark, my bunch of grapes looked like one purple blob. Too bad, loved it otherwise.
Lorraine Parra...
Weeks should definately start on a Monday…......can I presume the ‘dark prints’ issue has been sorted for calendars bought now?
Russell Greenwood
That’s right Lorraine – there was a small problem that’s all fixed now. See the reply further up the page here.
Matt Mawson
Ninety-nine percent of the calendars I come across start their weeks on Sunday, which is the way I prefer it (because I’m used to it), but maybe RB can offer different templates for those who prefer the weeks to start on Mondays.
Gerard Mignot
The calendar is superb. The print and the colors are stunning. Thanks Red Bubble
spiderfingers
not to complain but i ordered a calendar that should have been delivered by now, i went to check on it’s whereabouts and it said there is no record of my order. NOT cool!
Zolton
I like the desk calendar idea toooo! Good one, velvetkatz.

I have order several calendars and the quality up shine many orthers jobe well.
nexus7
Somebody I know on another forum very kindly ordered a calendarand had it sent to me, so that I coud see whatit loked like.
It does look great! – though I may change one or two small things.
My family sounded a note of caution – along thew lines of ‘nobody is going to buy a relatively expensive clanedar here, where so many many can be purchased so much more cheaply elsewhere.’
Unless I market to really up-market audiences.
So do give me resounding reasons why this view on the marketing of calendars might be wrong!
Once again, I emphasise that mine looks brilliant!

Your calendars are the best I have come across, beautiful reproductions of the photos and the price is great for such fantastic quality. I have made calendars two years running (so far)...
Graeme Pettit ...
I had calenders last year – simply superb. However, too pricey to sell on once imported into the UK – unable to compete with commercially available products for the most part
rogersmith
I too think it wld be better to have dates on left. The print quality this year is excellent … good value for money!
BecQuist
love the calendar but i cant get it to show up on my bubble site! what am i doing wrong?

I ordered 5 as gifts, forgot to keep one for myself! Gonna now order another 5 cos they make my art look FANTASTIC! Absolutely top quality product. Love em love em love em!!!

If you like someones art… then what could be more economical in having 12 or 13 images from one of your favourite artists on your wall at home. RB calendars are great quality and a great way of having a wide variety of art on your wall.
Many people articipate in a “Kris Kringle” or “secret Santa” at work – so why not give your “Kris Kringle / Secret Santa” a calendar of your work. It has become a new tradition at my partner’s work where her “Secret Santa” gift is one of my calendars. The receipient last year even asked for a personal signing… perhaps hoping I may die and her calendar could be worth something….

I ordered 20 calendars 15 of which were pre-sold and the other 5 were to be Christmas gifts, I just returned home from work and was greeted by my wife, who was holding one of the calendars in her hand. I have to say I am blown away by the quality, I think I am a half decent Nature photographer, but seeing my work in this calendar kind of puffs my chest out a bit, maybe I am my own worst critic but seeing the detail that has been replicated in my calendar has given me a new outlook. Thank you Red Bubble for creating such an incredible product.
