Yay, and thank you, I’ve long hoped that you would add a progress bar to the upload page. It can be somewhat furstrating not knowing how far the upload has progressed. Flash uploader! Excellent!

Fantastic idea with the “Up Load Progress Bar”. As someone who is still on dial up :( it takes ages to up load and knowing where you are up to will allow me to decide whether I have another cup of coffee or sit down at my keyboard ;)

Good to have some great changes although I find the group icons that are now displayed when you are going through ticking the boxes you want for your groups very distracting, especially if they have words in the icon which tend to run very close to the tick boxes?

Great uploader, just one question, is there a way you can replace existing artwork with a new uploaded image? I want to replace low res art pieces with higher resolution pieces, but it appears that I can only make them as New Posts all over again, hence losing all of my site stats, comments and having to subject people to seeing the same pieces again. Am I missing something? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Yikes! Just uploaded one … set to not public as I usually do just to check how it looks before public show … uploaded image is nowhere to be found!

I’ve noticed the group I host is starting to get flooded with multiple works from one artist because the group name is shortened. Our group has a 1 per day limit, and that is incorporated into the group name. Unfortunately, the group name has been truncated in the upload area.

Well Paul, now that you have more time take a break ! Really though all your efforts have worked extreamly well on this side, a Most gracious Thank You ! another Paul

This is much improved ,I have just uploaded and it took a matter of a couple of minutes instead of having to wait ten minutes sometimesl onger.

Great work Paul, this will work a treat. I particularly think the flash progress bar will be a big help, with the ability for the file to upload while users type details (very handy with 10mb or so images) and decide which groups to submit to, so good on you all.

The new system is great! It took a while to install the new uploader, but it gives much more information, and I really like being able to compose the info and decide on groups while it’s uploading. Well done Paul and all at RB.

surprise! surprise! and it was a great happy one! i was trying to upload an image to replace another just likewise, but this time far larger for poster printing. it was such a nice surprise to open the edit page and see it completely changed… for much better. the image uploaded a lot faster than the previous one, which was smaller. congratulations RB on the great work and the constant effort to improve the system. i’m grateful everyday better to be here!

Images load faster! This is great news! But I have struck a problem and can’t seem to fix it! Portrait size photos upload sideways. I edit my work in Picasa and it appears the right way round. It used to upload the right way round. Now it uploads sideways. I have tried turning it in Picasa but it still uploads sideways. I just had to delete the image in Red Bubble. If anyone can help?

Did you change the way to select an image for a challenge too? This is growing longer and longer, and I don’t understand how my entries are sorted there. The search function most of the time doesn’t work. Or should I just remove 60 percent of my gallery? lol

The uploader works well. I also love the changes in the “Edit” screen for artwork already loaded. Displaying the uploaded date is very useful and also showing the statistics info. Thank you! I have one suggestion for a possible enhancement: If you are a member of a lot of groups, remembering each group’s guidelines is a nightmare. A simple “info” button next to the group name that opens a pop-up window with that group’s guidelines, would make submitting a lot more accurate and also reduce the volume of rejections that the hosts will have to go through!

The changes look good but unfortunately ‘gallery management’ for bubble sites now seems to be broken. Try moving a shot around a set. It doesn’t get inserted in the correct place any more. Lack of proper testing again folks.

Okay, I agree it’s great to have a slider telling you how the u/l is proceeding and it’s also good that you can edit while it is doing it, but I just had to re-post 3 images because there is no ‘Upload another image’ feature as before, only an ‘Edit’ feature, which cancels out the one just posted, even though it was a completely separate file. The really odd thing is, they appear to have uploaded and been put somewhere because there were comments on them, but they didn’t show up in my Activity Feed as being ‘Added, although they appear in my ‘Public Profile’. I can’t understand why no-one else seems to have experienced this. I am doing nothing differently than before, apart from following the prompts in the new uploader. Suggestions please?

I agree, although this way is faster, if one wants to post another image..there is no Upload Another Image and one has to keep hopping between pages. I would assume most of us here on RB will upload multiple or a few pictures at a time.

Although the new system is great, Please put back this Add Another Image on your new upload page.

Love the new uploader (and glad it works!). I agree with others that a way to refresh one’s memory about group rules would be good (now I skip some and check back after the upload).
I would love it if, when we get a the message that we have reached the posting limits in a group, if there was a quick way to see what we’ve placed in that group so we can edit. Thanks.

I looove the upload screen, it’s much much better.
There is only one thing I thought it would be very usefull and helpfull – linked groups. When you check a work to the groups and you are not so sure about it, it would be perfect to ckick and go to the group right away to check the guidlines xx Just a suggetion – you’re working hard I know and you always to do things better for us.

HATED TRYING TO UPLOAD BEFORE….WORKING MUCH BETTER NOW!!!!

I love it! Uploading before had at times taken anywhere between 3-8 minutes (I’m estimating) and it was a real annoyance. Now the upload process is smooth, I can see where it’s at and it doesn’t take nearly as long! Also adding to groups is less confusing now. It’s beautiful!

I like the changes but there seems to be no option now to “Load Another File” from the page without going back a step. Could be, I’m missing it—! Also, it is much to easy now to NOT uncheck a group because it seems the prior checks remain. I would not want to send a science fiction piece to Cute Kitties inadvertently, so perhaps you will consider changing that… ? Otherwise, terrific upgrade1

@MsTique – the Add Another File is on it’s way back – my bad, I forgot to move it to the new uploader.

The groups don’t remain checked when you go to add another work – but it will remember on the edit screens for each work (so you can see which groups that artwork is in).

It has just come up elsewhere on RB that all files uploaded previous to this change, have lost theri original file names in our edit screens. They have been replaced with numbers. I have uploaded a new file today which has retained its original name, so I’m guessing that all new ones I upload from now on will also retain their names.

I suppose the numbering of old files ws pretty much unavoidable, but its a little bit disappointing for ome folks, whoc track their file systems using them on here. It doesn’t bother me as I keep all my RB work in a seperate place to everything else, but I can undersand how folk who dont could get lost in all those numbers.

Is there any chance to get the original file names back?

I haven’t noticed a change with the filenames – mine have always had numbers in the url, and they don’t appear to have changed.

well i did like it…. til i had to wait for it to reload for each new pic then it wouldn’t load at all so tried the “old school” way but nothing happened when i clicked on it cos it was still trying to load the “fancy” one – sigh !

There is some people who have a problem with this way because it changes their file names…see here I made a suggestion about the “flushing” of the groups with more than 700 pages of images but had no response from RB. This will also slow your system why not add that “flush” button for the hosts of groups with more than 350 pages? Or just for all the hosts to clear up their pages as needed? This will help RB and the group hosts.

Looks great! You broke my automated “photo of the day” upload, but hopefully I’ll be able to tweak it.

After 5 tries using Firefox, and always getting that “95%...”message, and never getting an upload, got it to work using I.E. but upload time seemed no different than before.On IE I also got a perpetual 95% upload time..should it always be that until the bitter end? (using high speed cable connect to internet). Have to solve the FF problem, IE is not for me. Anyone else have this situation?

Guys, further to my suggestion above, two possible bugs here: (1) as mentioned before, when uploading a new file through the new uploader, the file name displays correctly. But for older files when you go to edit, it displays an internal file number instead. Presumably the wrong database field is used (2) If you save your work as non-viewable, you now have to save your work as public first, before you are allowed to add it to groups. Why can’t we do both at the same time, as we do when entering a new piece?

It all looks great, but I’ve tried 4 times today to upload artwork and it seems to sit at 95% and doesn’t move. The photo I’m trying is only 3MB so that shouldn’t be a problem. The longest I waited was 45 minutes and finally gave up. Uploading to another site isn’t a problem so I know it’s not me. Help??

I’m new to Rb and just getting used to surfing around but find the new uploader clear and concise and a work in progress well done for keeping up to what the members need…you wont be able to please all people all the time buy you have done well here well done to those behind the scenes that don’t get a mention angelx If I could take this opp…to say it would be great if we could edit mis spelling and wrong info on our comments once we have pressed the send button I know many are commenting on this ????Thanks

The new upload page looks good but doesn’t work for me. I’ve tried 2 different files, in Firefox 3 and IE8. Each time the progress bar instantly jumps to 95%, then just sits there and does not complete. So at present I am unable to upload new work.

Since the change,my bubble page will not completely load. I am not able to click in the options (add new work, filter, groups, etc). I have tried for 4 days now. So, I do not like the new changes at all.

Hi Paul, Thanks for looking ahead and seeing issues before they become huge problems that cause folks to leave! And after identifying issues to address, you very successfully kept the use interface similar enough that very few folks flipped out… sounds like some minor tweaks you’re still working on for the most part. Well done!

For those who can’t upload, and get the 95% thing, here’s my trials so far:
Some experimenting:
Using I.E. to upload, the upload bar instantly goes to 95% and stays there. The picture does upload and eventually I get the gray submit bar to turn red and the upload completes.
Using FF, and the new uploader, the bar also goes to 95%, it looks like the picture is uploading ,judging from the lights on my router, but I never get the submit bar to turn red and after two hours I gave up.This has been tried many times,even downloaded FF from scratch and tried again.
BUT, on FF, using the old downloader, bar again goes to 95%, picture uploads, and after awhile the submit bar turns red and I can click it and get the “success” story.
Edits are OK.
Seems to be some glitch between FF and the new uploader.
Will the old uploader continue to be available? So far, I can’t find anything in FF that would make it stall on the new one.

I’ve just done my first upload with the new flashy-uploader-thingy & I’m loving it!!

Hi. I firstly want to say that the new uploader is great, more efficient. However, I seem to be having a problem that no-one else has mentioned. The colours in the uploads are quite different (a distinct majenta colour cast) This was not happening before and I regularly calibrate my monitor.

Thanks for keeping the simple uploader. Zazzle changed to flash and I can’t add anything new there since they changed. I told them I had Linux and they basically said oh well if you don’t have windows it’s not going to work for you.

Its brilliant Paul and works very well for me – it does seem much faster. Just one little issue Paul if I can bend your ear is that RB has removed the phone number or direct contact to RB administration from the site. I recently received an incorrect order, ie. I received my order but another package that did not belong to me and despite my emailing “someone” in RB have not had a reply in over a week. I have contacted the artist and he received his order plus 4 calenders that belonged to someone else so I think someone needs to look further into these complaints otherwise you will have a lot of unhappy customers looking for orders and not being able to contact anyone to sort it out. You used to have a spot to check where your order was or to ask a question about an order … I can not find this link anymore! Customers need to have faith that their inquiries will be answered!♥
