You know what else everybody likes? Parfaits. Have you ever met a person, you say, “Let’s get some parfait,” they say, “Hell no, I don’t like no parfait”? Parfaits are delicious.

Xcellent. I will se what I can do in the future. Right now I am moving to Brisbane again. But I concur with everything you have written here. Artists are intersting people…. One day we will be able to organise huge meetings.

So very true, Rhana. Beautifully written – - last Friday (10.07.2009) was the first meet-up I’ve been to and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. My only regret was I couldn’t stay as long as I wanted to. I will certainly be going to more. I encourage everyone who can to either go to one or organise, it’s so worth it. P.S.: it was lovely to meet you, too. Cheers, Jan.

Apart from meeting other bubblers at photo shoots locally, I followered through on an invitation to leave Victoria and meet up with Wendy Slee in Perth WA. She is now one of my closest friends.
Another very close friend and Soul Sister on RB has invited us to stay with them. So come this October, we are flying to the USA to spend a week with tkrosevear.
All I can say is that, RB has given me one of the greatest present yet.
Who could ask for introductions to new friends around the world, yet getting to meet them.
Way to go Bubblers….....

A meet with the artists on Redbubble would be fantastic. Then I could experience everyone first hand.

I don’t know any RBer in the real world that I didn’t recruit myself, I dunno who’s near me. How about doing a Google maps thing of who’s in what city, just the city/town/area whatever mind, not exact gps locations, I don’t want the feds to know where they can find me.

I have to agree with you all. I’ve never met anyone on here that I didn’t like! Everyone has been so welcoming, supportive and a wealth of knowledge. I love my RB family, and can’t wait to meet up with more of you. I have a trip to England planned in the not to distant future to meet up with Justine Devereux – she’s my international soul sister, who I love to bits :ox

My friends have taught me that we can all learn something from one another, we just need to allow ourselves to open up to accept the challenge and be proud of our achievements!!

Great to see the RB big whigs!! lol…...I had just finished putting a post in my journal about the topic of how isolated we become when we are full time artists…..Your entry is right on! I have to say that when you are working and can’t get out & about….....the RB is REALLY an inspiration and amazing community.
I am only two weeks+ on RB and I find that all I want to do is see more work and meet more artists (which does NOT get my paintings completed!).....
but, I wish I could have a big party and invite you all!!!!!!!!!! ;))

We have a small group that meets in SW Florida about once a month for a field photo trip. They are an excellent group of people and it is wonderful meeting with them on these trips.

ive got 53 photographers for Scott Kelby’s Worldwide photowalk this Saturday in Sydney , quite a few Red Bubblers turning up , and hopefully some converts by the end of the day.

The meetups are great , currently organising a Manly/North Head one for Sydney residents or those visiting Sydney in august

Well I have met Mick Davson, through whom i entered into my first exhibition for the lions club, where i met Anne and a few others from RB. Also have spent time with Clive as well..great people.
I have also connected with Rosemaree whom i have become very good friends with and see regularly.
Today I did my first radio interview on the ABC where i promoted my Redbubble site.
6.30 this morning..lol..at least it wasnt TV and you couldnt see me..lol..
I am calling for our Redbubble family to donate along with myself, photo’s of Kinglake and Marysville, from before the fires to help give the communities Historic Society, who lost everything, to restart building their history.
Through this meeting I believe I have a few more people who might join our community.
So I am trying to be out there as well..hugs to all. Kristina K

Perhaps run a comp for out of towner’s to win the accommodation [then pitch a tent on the beach for them …. no no no lol] Surely there’s a hotel that would donate some rooms for the world wide free advertisement of their establishment! [No not an add on the site but in the flyer/invite that we send everyone!]
We could even make it a fundraising event and charge corporations top dollar [that they’d claim back on tax anyway] and they can pay for the dinner of us struggling artists! lol
Now THAT’d be a Fantastic meet! we could have group banners showing the sort of art we promote! hold comps for winning seats at the group table, present annual group featured artists with red bubble trophy’s – have competitions for prizes & present them at the dinner!
OK it wont mean anything yet but it might just become the auspicious RedBubble Art Award! and fancy being an inaugural holder!
If it’s good then hold one in London & New York too! You heads get to go there for the shindigs! & could even have a competition to win a spot to go as guest artists to whichever one!
Perhaps that will spark interest in the group participation
Give it all REAL meaning not just Virtual!

This is fantastic Rhana and I know exactly what you mean about working remotely and having only ‘virtual’ friends. I work from home in a similar situation and occasionally get to meet some of the people I interact with on the computer. Peeling the layers off the onion is a fantastic experience and makes the isolation at work a little more tolerable. Thank you for sharing… I love knowing how the RB team are doing as you all look like so much fun xx

Sadly my RB outfit (pink piggy PJs) went to heaven – I now have to break in the fluffy white sheep version. I haven’t been game to wear either on a RB meetup but there have been many outings with RBers, local and international, and every time I feel I’m meeting friends I’ve had since before time began. Thanks Rhana for the HO cameos – it sorta explains a lot!!!!

I met some RedBubblers recently and really enjoyed having them as my friends. I love seeing their work here and want to thank RB for making this possible for me. Way to go RB!!

Boy, I do envy you, it sounds like my ideal job!! At the same time, I can understand what you mean about human contact. I guess these days we do tend to isolate ourselves too much and then we feel like there is something missing in our lives, no wonder!!

I think we also get a great insight into people through redbubble as we don’t make those instant judgments that normally go with a first time meeting with someone. We see so many of their inner layers and really get to know people possibly better than we know some of our acquaintances from our everyday life. I cant wait to meet some of the gorgeous people I have come to know here. They have helped me grow with their inspiring images and insightful comments. RB rocks x

Rhana, this is sooo cool, and I have to agree with you ~ seeing them face to face is awesome, a couple of months ago met coppertrees after just communicating online for 2 and a half years and we spent a wonderful 15 days together. And, as Larry Davis mentioned, he and his wife are enroute here in 96 days (and counting)...If I win the Lottery, I’ll be meeting the whole famdamily ;) xoxox ♥

One of the best blasts I had in recent times was meeting up with 7 other RBers from around the UK. That’s still an old journal I need to reseruct that died with my old account.

Being around such like minded people inspires and there was a laugh a minute

I’m really disappointed ..with the guys in RB because ..well..they look ordinary .. just like us..and as for you RHANA ,a progeny of, as you say Australopithecus ,you are quite petite..! and as for me I like Onions…!

great fun piece of work & the benefits of meeting up with others are very tangible. I have been to several meets with the “Wales Rich In Beauty” & “Castle Magic” crew in the UK & every one has been great fun & like meeting a bunch of people I have known for years. Next one is planned for early August…so anyone in South Wales in August who fancies a meet up with a bunch of erm…loonies…& a fab castle ( Caerphilly) to capture check out the WRIB page.

Meeting another RBer is really fun. I invited a RBer who lives fairly close to join three of us from my hometown for a photoshoot. I had admired her photo on her site and contacted her about it. We had a blast and it’s great to put a person with the work.
